Fifteen people became U.S. citizens in a naturalization ceremony this week before Judge Theresa Dellick of Mahoning County Juvenile Court. Those who agreed to publication of their names, their countries of origin and hometowns, are: Abdul Malik Saleem Bajwa, Pakistan, Canfield; Yasmeen Ahmed Saad Elbeshouty, Egypt, Poland; Tacibaht Turel, Turkey, Canfield; Gulper Ela Yarasik, Turkey, Boardman; Naira Srivastava, Armenia, Canfield; Qin Dong, China, Austintown; Khaled Abdelkareem Wakhyan, Jordan, Boardman; Kirandeep Kaur Uppal, India, Boardman; Heba Mohammad Younes Elayyan, Jordan, Boardman; Omprakash Sharma, India, Youngstown.

Special meeting

Village council will have a special meeting at 8:30 a.m. today in council chambers, 140 E. Liberty St. The time was changed from 10 a.m. Among the items up for discussion are projects and state grants and financing.

‘Taste of Faiths’ event

The Mahoning Valley Association of Churches will host a “Taste of the Faiths” festival Monday evening.

The MVAC said the public event allows socialization with neighbors of other faiths and denominations.

The event will take place in St. Charles Church social hall on Westview Drive, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Food and beverages will be provided by Mahoning Valley congregations, followed by “pick-a-prize” auctions and entertainment beginning at 6:30 p.m.
