Poland Junior Women’s Club hosted its annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 8 at the Poland Village Town Hall and Gazebo Grounds.

PJWC partnered with New Life Church and together they filled and placed more than 8,000 eggs out for the children to collect.

The egg hunt was divided into three different time slots for different age categories. Children from ages 0-3 went first, followed by children 4-6 then finally children ages 7-10. Each child collected around 20 eggs filled with candy and other special gifts.

“Usually we’re packed, so it’s hard to say how many people come,” said Terri Windsor, co-chair of the event.

The police and fire department brought their trucks out for the children to explore.

The PJWC put together 24 Easter Basket prizes that they did own there own. Around 40 golden ticket prizes were donated from businesses in the Mahoning County, as well as Columbus and Pittsburgh. There were Pirates tickets, tickets to the zoo, tickets for COSI and many more. More than 100 children’s meals each from Texas Roadhose, Applebee’s and Chick Fil A were donated as gifts.

Children could get their faces painted, get a balloon animal and get a picture with the Easter Bunny along with other mascots from Mahoning Valley businesses. There was a table set up in the gazebo with cookies and hot chocolate for the guests. Prize baskets were lined up along the tables for people to have the chance to win.

The Easter Egg Hunt is one of the many activities the Poland Junior Women’s Club sponsors for the Poland community.
