Cited after fleeing

YOUNGSTOWN

Reports said a man who drove away from police about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday and dared them to search his car was issued citations for fleeing and eluding and possession of marijuana.

Officers tried to pull over a car driven by Arquise C. Miller, 26, of Canfield Road, for running a stop sign. Instead, Miller failed to stop and went around the block before stopping at West Judson Avenue and Market Street because of heavy traffic.

Reports said Miller told police: “You can go ahead and search the car. It’s the cleanest car you’ll find.” Officers found a suspected marijuana cigar in an ashtray.

Possible fentanyl found

YOUNGSTOWN

Reports said police found two bags of suspected fentanyl about 3:05 p.m. Wednesday during a traffic stop at Oak Hill and Breaden avenues for an improper turn.

John Miles, 30. of South Forest Street, a passenger, had a crack pipe in his lap when police approached the car, reports said. When he was searched, officers found a bag of suspected fentanyl and a dose of suspected fentanyl in a folded-up lottery ticket. Miles was booked into the Mahoning County jail on a felony charge of possession of drugs and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Passed out in car

AUSTINTOWN

Police charged a man with carrying a concealed weapon after finding him passed out in his car late Wednesday.

Matthew Pierce, 33, of Youngstown, was hanging out the door of his car when officers arrived at a North Meridian Road gas station. Pierce was unconscious, and police said there was vomit on his pants and car door.

When he awoke, Pierce told police he had a few mixed drinks before leaving the restaurant he works at and thought he did the right thing by pulling into the gas station instead of continuing to drive. Police said they saw a suspected marijuana cigarette in the car’s ashtray and found a loaded .357 revolver in the glove box. He faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and having physical control of a vehicle while intoxicated.
