Woman arrested on drug charge after OD

YOUNGSTOWN

A woman found passed out in her car Tuesday afternoon on Salt Springs Road who had to be revived with the opiate antidote Narcan was arrested on a charge of heroin possession.

Reports said an officer on patrol was flagged down about 1:05 p.m. for the woman, Annette Reitz, 46, of Lisbon, who was in her car on the side of the road on the city’s West Side in the driver’s seat with a cigarette in her mouth, but she could not answer questions and was having problems breathing.

Paramedics arrived and administered the Narcan. When police looked in her purse for identification, they found a pill, a needle and a brown powder in a sandwich bag suspected to be heroin, reports said.

Reports said Reitz told police she came to the West Side to buy heroin and parked in an area near Leo Street, where a man came to her car and sold her heroin for $40. Reitz was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Yellow paint from road

HOWLAND

The Ohio Department of Transportation says drivers who got temporary, yellow latex paint on their vehicles Tuesday on state Route 46 in Howland can probably wash it off.

But if that is not effective, they can contact ODOT at 330-786-3100 to file a claim for construction-zone damage.

Brent Kovacs, public-information officer for ODOT District 4, said a contractor painted temporary road markings on Route 46 between Youngstown Road and state Route 82 early Tuesday.

It was part of a “micro-resurfacing project,” but because that part of Route 46 is busy, temporary lines were needed until the project is finished, Kovacs said.

A rainstorm Tuesday soaked the lines and caused puddles of yellow paint that may have gotten onto cars.
