Mercy Health grant

YOUNGSTOWN

U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, announced a $70,000 Appalachian Regional Commission Project Grant to Mercy Health Youngstown LLC to be used for the purchase of new medical-education simulation equipment. The equipment will improve and expand clinical training for physicians, dentists, nurses, medical students and other health care professionals and medical staff in the region. According to the Mercy Health and the ARC, this investment will enhance competency for health care providers, improve patient outcomes and increase access to health care in under-served areas of Appalachian Ohio. The equipment supplied under this grant is also necessary for Mercy Health to be able to maintain its accreditation status with the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education, which is vital to its medical-education programs.
