GREENVILLE, PA.

The Community Medical Ethics Project is offering a presentation on Wednesday at Thiel College with recognized bioethics expert Alex London, Ph.D., who will discuss if age should be a factor for rationing health care.

London, director of the Center for Ethics and Policy at Carnegie Mellon University, will present identical lectures from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lutheran Heritage Room of the Howard Miller Student Center. The presentations are approved for American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award Category 1 credits.

Acupuncture session

The Ohio Naturopathic Wellness Center is offering an “Acupuncture Happy Hour” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The event is designed to improve physical and mental well-being by joining Ohio Naturopathic Wellness Center’s monthly Thursday night acupuncture “happy hour.”

Nutrition course

Board-certified naturopathic, Dr. Dannielle MacDuff, is offering a six-week course on nutrition at the Trumbull Career and Technical Center, 528 Educational Highway on the adult education side. The course is sponsored by Mussler Chiropractic in Boardman.

Participants will learn how the body responds to food and nutrition and how to combine and prepare foods to get the most from them. The classes are from 7 to 8:30 p.m. May 4, 11, 16 and 25 and June 1 and 8. The cost is a $55 donation to the Phoenix House building fund. Alzheimer’s seminar

The Alzheimer Network is offering a seminar on legal and financial issues regarding long-term care associated with Alzheimer’s disease from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the conference room of the Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St.

Of special importance is the new Qualified Interest Trust requirement of Ohio Medicaid rules. It is also important for family caregivers to understand the basics of legal and financial issues as they plan for future needs of their loved ones and themselves.

Parenting seminar

As part of the Positive Parenting Program, Alta Behavioral Healthcare is offering a free seminar, “Raising Resilient Children,” for parents of kids birth to 12. The event is 7 to 9 p.m. May 3 at Kids Town, 55 Stadium Drive. The presenter is Marci Masters, a master trainer and early childhood mental-health consultant for Alta Behavioral Healthcare.

At the seminar, parents can learn how to encourage positive behavior in their children while dealing with problem behavior, and how to become confident as parents. The format is a relaxed small-group session, with video clips and other materials highlighting the subject matter. Questions and informal discussion will be encouraged.

Free health talk

WARREN

The Wound Healing Center at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, 1350 E. Market St., is offering a free community health talk on Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Community Room on the ground floor of the hospital.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Rao Sudheendra, will discuss HBO therapy, how it works and who benefits from treatment.

During HBO therapy the body is exposed to 100 percent oxygen at a pressure greater than what the body normally experiences. People suffering from diabetic foot ulcers, bone infections, chronic nonhealing wounds, delayed radiation injuries and compromised skin grafts may benefit from HBO therapy.
