Pair faces charges after Austintown traffic stop
AUSTINTOWN — Police found pills during a traffic stop early Saturday morning, according to a report.
Officers stopped Melissa Lucas, 42, of Lake Milton, on Burkey Road because she reportedly was driving erratically. The reporting officer said he smelled alcohol and saw an open container in the console.
Upon receiving consent for a search, the passenger, Tylin Fairchild, 24, of Youngstown, said the beer was his. He was cited for having an open container in a motor vehicle.
Police also reportedly found four tablets of lorazepam, an anti-anxiety medication, during the search. Lucas told police she found them on the floorboard of her vehicle and put them in the glove box.
Lucas was charged with possession of a controlled substance, schedule III, IV or V.
