BASEBALL

West Branch 11-15, Ursuline 1-1

In the first game, winning pitcher T.J. DeShields (2-0) tossed a five-inning six-hitter, striking out five and walking two. Cole Bates led the Warriors’ offense with three hits. Mason Walker doubled and drove in two runs. Brant Alazaus and Jon Snyder each had two runs and scored twice. For the Irish, Colin Balas and Joel Kreuzweiser had two hits while Vince Armeni doubled. In the second game, DeShields’ two hits included a triple and he drove in two runs. Connor Hedrick and Jake Lyons each frove in two runs for the Warriors (14-4) while Seth Schroeder and Josh Stabler each had two hits. For the Irish (4-13), Glenn Griswold drove in the run. Robert Graygo and Carmen Cavalier had the other hits.

Austintown Fitch 6, Cardinal Mooney 2

Malik Caige delivered a two-run single and walked twice and Joe Chepke allowed two runs in 41/3 innings in the Falcons’ victory. Chepke scattered five hits and struck out two. Kole Klasic worked 22/3 scoreless innings for a save. Robby Russo singled and walked twice and Mike Grazier singled and walked for Fitch (7-7). Jake Fonderlin and Dom Pecchia each had two hits for Mooney.

Crestview 2, Boardman 0

Crestview’s Jake Crawford held Boardman to three hits, walking four and striking out two to get the win. Tyler Fitzsimmons sac-fly and Caleb Hill’s RBI-single plated the winning runs. Boardman’s Kade Miller had two hits and Brett Knaus had the third.

Canfield 14, McClancy (N.Y.) 2

Canfield (10-2) won the Mingo Bay Big School Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Anthony Longo was named tourney MVP and he had two hits, including a home run, in the final game. Alex Hernandez hit three doubles and Kyle Wills pitched four innings to get the win.

Columbiana 5-17, Liberty 3-2

Jake Clark struck out eight to get the win in Game 1 and brought home two runs on sacrifice flies for the Clippers. Mitch Davidson hit two triples and Chase Franken added another. Columbiana (13-2) scored 12 runs in the first inning of Game 2. Tim Davin and Jake Clark each had two RBIs and Franken scored three runs.

Jackson-Milton 2, Niles 1

Zac Lane and Joey Williams each had two hits for the Bluejays (11-3). Jonathon Voland drove in a run. For the Red Dragons, Joseph Proper drove in the run. Corbin Foy pitched five innings, allowing the two runs and four hits for Niles (13-2).

Southeast 9-5, Girard 4-3

Brady Hunkus pitched five innings in game one for Girard, striking out four. Offensive stats were not available from game one. In game two, Hunkus had two walks. Other stats from game two were not available.

Newton Falls 6, Lakeside 2

Dylan McAvoy went 2-for-4 with three runs scored while Hayden Sherwood went 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Jordan Edmondson went 1-for-3 with two runs scored while Adam Honeycutt went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Hayden Garza went the distance, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out six.

South Range 3, Minerva 2

Ethan Dominguez had two hits, including a triple in South Range’s win. Jack Bajerski had two hits and Brycen James had a double for the Raiders (11-4). Michael Cuningham pitched six innings for the win, working around five walks and striking out four.

Springfield 9, Mineral Ridge 3

Anthony Ugolini ldrove in three runs for the Tigers. Zach Renaldy and John Ritter each had two RBIs. For the Rams, Taylor Squiri hit two doubles and Luke Harts had two hits.

Lisbon 12, East Palestine 5

Cameron Summers hit a triple and scored three runs for Lisbon. David Toot and the cousins Sweeney —Justin and Collin— combined for three doubles. Trevor Kimmel hit two doubles for East Palestine.

McDonald 11, Leetonia 2

Joey Sudol went 3-for-4 with an RBI with three runs scored in a win for the Blue Devils. Dylan Portolese went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored as well. Calvin Wolford went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Isaac Stecker went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for Leetonia.

SOFTBALL

Cardinal Mooney 13, Boardman 4

Conchetta Rinaldi’s grand slam highlighted an eight-run third inning for the Cardinals (7-3). C.J. Sapp had two hits and three RBIs, Jordan McLay had three hits and Gia DiFabio and Brooke Chandler had two hits apiece. Kayla Rutherford struck out seven for the victory.

Poland 9, Geneva 1

Ashley Wire pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits and striking out five while smacking two doubles on offense. Audrey Schweers, Sarah Boccieri, Mandy Wire, Harley Kish and Payton Slana each had two hits in the win. Slana had two RBIs to go with her two hits for the Bulldogs (6-7).

Hubbard 6, Austintown Fitch 0

Addy Jarvis got the win, pitching seven innings, striking out 15, walking one and giving up just one hit in Hubbard’s win. Morgan Kist had three hits and a run scored for the Eagles while Jarvis, Annie Zagorec and Lea Munnell each had two hits. Lainie Simons had the lone hit for the Falcons.

Salem 13-10, Warren Harding 3-0

Salem’s Clara Janofa got the win in Game 1 pitching six innings and striking out five and walking two. Bailee Thorn went 3-4 with a double, a triple and three runs scored. Katie Moore and Taylor Thorpe each had three hits. Thorn hit a double and triple in Game 2. Janofa added six RBIs and Taylor Thorpe gave up just one hit in five innings.

Lakeview 7-8, Willoughby South 3-7

Cait Kelm won both starts for the Bulldogs, striking out 20 batters and walking five across both games. In both contests, Tori Wells hit a combined two doubles as did Alex Romano.

Springfield 5, Marysville 0

Molly Pontius hit a grand slam and Lindsey Druschel a solo homer. Both had two hits. Also with singles for the Tigers were Cassie Bacon, Jacqueline Kish and Brianna Yemma. Josie Applegarth tossed a four-hitter, striking out two and walking none.

Springfield 12, Windham 0

Applegarth held the Bombers to two hits, striking out six without allowing a walk. Nikki Bovo hit a home run and a double for three RBIs. Pontius hit a single and a double for two runs for Springfield (14-1).

Columbiana 13-5, Mineral Ridge 4-3

Alyssa Thom was the winning pitcher for Game 1, giving up three runs on six hits while striking out three. Kennedy Fullum hit a triple and three singles to lead the Clippers (16-0). Taylor Ross and Morgan Highley each hit a triple. In Game 2, Highley, Jillian Stilson and Emily Gosselin each hit a double while Maris Makosky struck out six on the mound to get the win. Ariel Lanaeve took the loss in both games for Mineral Ridge.

Crestview 5, Jackson-Milton 2

Four runs in the fourth inning made the difference for Crestview. Trinity Boston hit a two-run home run amd Skylar Mattern and Baylie Bettura each hit RBI singles. MacKenzie Daub struck out 10 to get the win for the Rebels. Sierra Pierce hit a solo home run for Jackson-Milton.
