Safety awards

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber’s Mahoning Valley Safety Council will have its annual safety awards from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 10 at the Maronite Center, 1555 S. Meridian Road.
The council and the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation Youngstown Service Office will recognize companies that earned safety awards for the 2016 calendar year.
City Machine Technologies Inc. will announce the winner of the 11th Joan Kovach Safety Leadership Award. Keynote speaker Greg Safran of SafT Integration will present best safety practices at the event.
The cost is $30 for members and $40 for nonmembers.

ATHENA dinner

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and The Vindicator/Vindy.com will present the 25th ATHENA Award Dinner from 5:30 to 9 p.m. May 18 at Mr. Anthony’s, 7440 South Ave.
The ATHENA Award celebrates the accomplishments of outstanding professional women from the Mahoning Valley.

Loan seminar
CLEVELAND
The Small Business Administration will have a loan seminar in Cleveland from 10 a.m. to noon May 18.
The seminar will take place at the Lower Level Amphitheater, 1350 Euclid Ave.
At the free seminar, small-business owners, as well as individuals interested in starting a business, can discover how to obtain financing for their venture.
Participants also will have a one-on-one opportunity to talk with a SBA specialist and make counseling appointments with SCORE, “Counselors to America’s Small Business.”

There will be informational workshops for Job Corps offered at OhioMeansJobs Mahoning County, 141 Boardman-Canfield Road, on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Pre-registration is required for attendance.
Job Corps provides free education and career training for those who qualify.
