Charged with theft

Charged with theft

AUSTINTOWN

A man and woman are charged with theft after police said they attempted to flee Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave., with steak valued at nearly $250 on Thursday morning.

Wendell Hall, 48, of Campbell, and Deanna Shane, 45, of Youngstown, loaded a shopping cart with steak and pushed it out of the store without paying, reports said.

According to a police report, they put the steak in a bag and ran across the parking lot to a bus, leaving the steak they couldn’t carry in the cart.

Officers were able to stop the bus before it left and found Shane with the meat. Hall denied being with her, but security footage reportedly showed his involvement.

Both are charged with theft, and Shane also is charged with possessing criminal tools for using a duffle bag to take the steak.

Drug charges

AUSTINTOWN

Police have charged Lamarcus Belcher, 37, of Austintown with possession of drugs, marijuana and drug parphernalia.

Police stopped Belcher on Mahoning Avenue on Thursday when his license plate showed he had a parole violation on an original charge of attempted murder.

After a search, police found a box of sandwich bags, a digital scale, a cup with marijuana residue and a jar containing suspected marijuana in his bookbag. He also had six pills of tramadol, an opioid, in the bookbag.

Facing OD charges

BOARDMAN

Police arrested a township man Thursday on warrants related to a drug overdose.

Albert Miller, 33, of Homestead Drive, was arrested on charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.

The charges stem from a Dec. 27 incident in which police were dispatched to Miller’s home in reference to “an unresponsive male in the basement.”

Miller regained consciousness after paramedics administered Narcan, a medication that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose.

Police reportedly found a hypodermic needle, “a small bindle of possible heroin,” and a burned spoon with drug residue at the scene.
