The Boardman Civic Association hosted its annual Community Awards Dinner on March 20 at Lariccia Family Community Center.

The BCA hosts a Community Awards Dinner once per year to honor different community members and businesses in Boardman every year. All of the BCA members are invited along with members of the community who wish to attend.

There were three major awards that were presented during the dinner to community members. The winners were honored for Best New Building 2016, Best Renovated Properties 2016 and Business Person of the Year 2016.

Muscle Connection was awarded with Best New Building, Tiffany Square Plaza won Best Renovated Properties with Chick-fil-A and McDonald’s receiving a Remodeled Building award and Business Person of the Year was awarded to Tom Zidian, owner of Summer Garden Foods. Frank Lazzeri was also awarded with the Past President award at the beginning of the award presentation.

“We have a nice dinner, invite people to come and the award winners to come. The members come out and we give awards and talk nicely about these people,” said Mark Luke, BCA Secretary.

BCA President Meg Harris spoke to the crowd about BCA and what it stands for before the winners were announced. Harris presented the Past President award to Lazzeri as she told the audience about how she met Lazzeri and other stories about him and his presidency.

“Boardman Civic Association promotes community pride with our annual awards,” Harris told the crowd.

There was a slide show put together about the BCA, the 2016 award winners and the winners of this year’s awards. There was also some trivia about Boardman Park included.

When the dinner ended the guests had the opportunity to mingle and congratulate the winners.
