WARREN

A Warren man is in jail and facing several traffic charges after leading city police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol on a high-speed chase Tuesday afternoon that started with a hit-and-run accident on Youngstown Road in Warren and ended on state Route 44 in Portage County when the motorist’s engine overheated. While in Warren, the driver, Jeffrey Gates, 55, also sideswiped a second vehicle and went through several red traffic lights along South Street before leaving the city on West Market Street to state Route 5, where state troopers took over the chase, reported 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.
