WEDNESDAY’S RESULTS

BASEBALL

Cardinal Mooney 10, Howland 2

Chris Lewis went 2-for-4 with five RBIs, a home run and three runs scored in a win for the Cardinals. Dean Lauer walked three times and came around to score three runs. Brennan Olesh also went 2-for-4, driving home two runs. Pitcher Ryan Stafanec went five innings, striking out five and giving up one earned run in the win. For Howland, Keith Rounds went 3-for-3 with a run scored.

Poland 7, Girard 1

Vince Garayua pitched six innings, striking out eight in the win for the Bulldogs (10-3). Tony Chiaro had a pair of two-run singles while Don Drummond went 2-for-2 in the win. Aiden Warga went 3-for-3 for Girard (7-7) and Austin Claussell had a double and scored the run.

Struthers 10, Niles 0

Tre Martin had three hits and drove in two runs. Marco DeFalco and Corbin Foy each had two hits. DeFalco tossed a three-hitter, striking out 10 batters and walking none. Stephen Mistovich, Jared Lazcko and JD Hall had the Wildcats’ hits.

Canfield 12, Martinsburg (W.Va.) 1

Anthony Longo pitched a complete game, giving up five hits and striking out six. Offensively, the Cardinals (7-2) were led by Kyle Wills with three hits, including two doubles and three RBIs. Ian McGraw also had three hits and Jimmy Fitzgerald had two hits. Ricky Havrilla had a double and two RBIs and Jad Jadallah had two RBIs.

LaBrae 19, East 0

M. Roberts drove in five runs with three hits. A. Jones had three RBIs and Z. Morris had three hits. For the Panthers, C. Daniels had one of their two hits.

Liberty 3, Newton Falls 1

Mike Everly tossed a two-hitter, striking out 14 and walking three for the Leopards (4-8, 4-4 All-American Conference Blue). James Spisak drove in a run while Kevin Hawn scored a run and stole four bases.

Crestview 3, Springfield 2

Tyler Hurd picked up the win for the Rebels (7-5, 5-1 Inter-Tri County League Red), scattering six hits. Caleb Hill doubled and scored two of the Crestview runs while Tyler Fitzsimmons singled and scored a run. Brannon Brungard singled and scored a run for the Tigers (5-6, 1-2) .

South Range 16, East Palestine 8

Jared Bajerski, Brandon Youngs, Dan Ritter and Josh Stear each had three hits for the Raiders (9-3, 3-1 ITCL Red). Jack Bajerski, Ethan Dominguez and Kelly Keenan each had two hits. Jared Bajerski drove in four runs.

Jackson-Milton 13, Sebring 0

A 10-run second inning was more than enough for the Bluejays (10-2, 6-0 ITCL Blue). Sebastian Lay pitched all five innings, allowing just one hit and striking out six in the win. Devan Christoff had three hits while Zak Lane, Eric Ostrowski and Lay each had two hits on the offensive side.

Columbiana 11, Lisbon 6, 8 innings, suspended

A six-run eighth inning has the Clippers in front. Lightning forced the game’s suspension. Mitch Davidson went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI while Tim Davin hit a grand slam. Lisbon racked up 16 hits, but left nine runners on base. Cameron Summers went 4-for-5 for the Blue Devils with four RBIs while Justin Sweeney, Colin Sweeney, Logan Bell and David Toot each had two hits.

West Branch 8, Carrollton 7

Josh Stahler drove in five runs with two hits including a double. Connor Hedrick scored twice and drove in two runs for the Warriors (12-3, 6-1 Northeastern Buckeye Conference). Aiden Pasiuk and Jacob Grubbs each drove in two runs for Carrollton (1-11, 0-7).

LATE TUESDAY

Waccamaw (SC) 4, Canfield 0

Canfield stranded nine runners in a loss in Myrtle Beach. Jack Rafoth pitched five innings in the loss, striking out four in the process.

SOFTBALL

Canfield 4, Darlington (W. Va.) 3

Winning pitcher Bridget Durkin struck out four and walked one in the game in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Kaili Gross’ four hits included a triple for the Cardinals (8-3). Maura Kennedy’s two hits included a double and she scored twice. Jill Baker drove in two runs.

Garfield 14, Boardman 1

Taylor Brown had four hits for Garfield. For the Spartans, Lauren Gabriele homered.

Lakeview 13, Howland 7

Winning pitcher Cait Kelm struck out nine and walked four. Kylee Mann and Tori Wells hit doubles for the Bulldogs (9-3). Wells and Kelm each three hits. Sam Marino and Kelm drove in three runs. For the Tigers, Sara Price homered while Reann Litz and Marissa Miller doubled. Litz drove in three runs.

Hubbard 14, Niles 1

Emma Wukelich had five hits for the Eagles. Annie Zagorec tripled and Addy Jarvis doubled. Both drove in three runs. Sophie Madeline tossed a six-hitter, striking out four batters. For the Red Dragons, Lindsay Hayes and Kenzie Johnston each had two hits.

Champion 12, Madison 2

Allison Smith hit two homers for the Golden Flashes. McKenzie Zigmont also homered while Carli Swipas doubled. Smith drove in six runs and Zigmont three.

Springfield 2, Crestview 1, 9 innings

Molly Pontius’ sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning scored Josie Applegarth with the winning run for the Tigers (11-1). Applegarth earned the pitching win in relief of Jaclyn Kish, who had two hits. Marlie Applegarth doubled. For Crestview, Skyler Mintern had two hits and drove in the run. Hailey Eskra and Olivia Strank doubled.

Grovesport Madison 11, South Range 7

Felicia Gaeta doubled and drove two RBIs while Codi Taylor drove in three runs for the Raiders (7-3) in the game in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Lowellville 13, Mineral Ridge 2

Winning pitcher Isabelle Sotlar (4-5) struck out nine batters and walked four for the Rockets (5-4, 3-3 ITCL Blue). Sotlar’s three hits included a triple and double, and she drove in three runs. Hannah Johnston’s three hits included a double and she drove in four runs. For the Rams, Lexie Haynes hit an inside-the-park homer.

Columbiana 17, Lisbon 3

Marissa McDonough sparked the Clippers (12-0, 6-0 ITCL White) with four hits including two doubles and she drove in four runs. Kennedy Fullum’s three hits included two doubles and she drove in two runs. Morgan Highley’s three hits included a double and she had three RBIs. Alyssa Tohm’s three hits included two doubles and she drove in two runs. Emily Gosselin also had three hits including a double. For the Blue Devils (5-8, 2-2), Devon Flory hit two doubles while Autumn Oehlstrom had two hits including a double. Kennedy Vrable also had two hits.

McDonald 10, Western Reserve 4

M. Ward and K. Kelly each had three hits. H. Donkers’ two hits drove in three runs. Also with two hits were K. Donkers, C. Titus and S. Schrader. For Western Reserve (5-3, 4-2 ITCL Blue), Morgan Donithan’s two hits included a double and drove in two runs.

Salem 2, United 1

Bailee Thorn homered to extend her hitting streak to 11 games. Hayden Carner drove in the Quakers’ other run. Winning pitcher Taylor Thorpe tossed a one-hitter, striking out 12 and walking one. Annie Paterson had the hit for the Eagles (7-1). She struck out 12 batters and walked two.
