TUESDAY’S RESULTS

BASEBALL

Cardinal Mooney 9, Ursuline 3

Mooney’s Anthony Potesta went 3 for 4, including a double and a triple for four RBIs. Jake Fonderlin went 2 for 4 with an RBI for the winning side. Brennan Olesh struck out four across five innings to get the win. Colgan Knox went 2 for 3 and scored two runs for the Irish (3-11) and Bobby Cavalier collected an RBI. Glenn Griswold conceded six runs in four and 1/3 innings to take the loss.

Boardman 7, Hubbard 0

Dylan Gurski struck out seven and allowed just two hits in a complete game effort for Boardman (7-8). Coleman Stauffer and Gavin Strines had two hits each for Boardman. Stauffer also scored three runs.

Poland 1, Fitch 0

Dom Drummond pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing just one hit in the victory for Poland (9-3, 4-2 All-American Conference Red). Dan Klase’s sacrifice fly in the fourth that brought home Pad O’Shaughnessy was the difference on the scoreboard. Fitch’s (6-6, 3-3 AAC Red) Cole Constance went six innings, allowing two hits in the hard-luck defeat.

Howland 17, Warren Harding 7

Nick Badanjek went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored in a win for Howland (6-2, 5-1 AAC Red). Dylan Keller went 3-for-4 with two RBIs while Keith Rounds went 2-for04 with two RBI and three runs scored as well. Nick Fitzgerald went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Harding (1-8-1, 0-6 AAC Red) while Devin Chambers went 1-for-4 with two RBIs in the loss.

LaBrae 13, Liberty 0

Malakai Roberts, J.T. Wolke, Sam Wells and Dane Sprague had two RBIs each for LaBrae. Wells and Roberts had a good day on the mound as well, each striking out three batters. Wells and Roberts along with Tyler Morris combined to hold Liberty to just one hit.

South Range 4, East Palestine 1

Dan Ritter had eight strikeouts in a complete game effort for South Range (8-3). Randy Skripac, Jared Bajerski, and Ethan Dominguez had two hits each for the Raiders.

McDonald 5, Western Reserve 2

Nick Shiley notched a complete game, allowing two runs on eight hits with three strikeouts for the win. Dylan Portolese went 1 for 2, scored once and drove in two runs. Z. Nolf, C. Wolford and D. Wolford each had one hit. Nolf and Wolford had one RBI each. J. DiCioccio led the Blue Devils’ offense with two hits and one run. Dom Velasquez and Jeep Ciccone each had one hit and drove in one run.

Crestview 7, Springfield 6, 9 innings

Peyton Wolfe’s sacrifice fly in the ninth inning scored Kaden Davis with the winning run. Devin Turvey’s three hits included a homer and drove in four runs. He scored twice. Dylan Dickey pitched all nine innings, striking out 10 and walking none. For the Tigers, Zach Renaldy and Anthony Ugolini each had two hits including a double, Renaldy scored twice while Russ Seymour hit a three-run homer.

Lisbon 9, Columbiana 1

L. Bell went the distance for the Blue Devils, striking out six batters in seven innings. He also helped the offense with 2 of 4 hitting and a run scored. Justin Sweeney and Noah Barnes each had three hits and an RBI. C. Sweeney had two hits and scored twice. Lisbon tallied 13 hits total. Columbiana scattered two. C. Franken and K. Greene each had one.

Jackson-Milton 12, Sebring 1

Eric Ostrowski had quite the day striking out 12 Sebring hitters while also racking up four hits including a double and four RBIs in the batter’s box. Noah Laster had two doubles and four RBIs while Zak Lane also had two RBIs for the Bluejays (9-2).

Warren JFK 8, St. Thomas Aquinas 0

Drew Mendik struck out 11 batters for JFK. Mendik also scored three runs and had two hits. Ryan Lee had two hits and two RBI for the Eagles along with two runs scored. Ryan Galle also had two hits and two RBI.

Lowellville 6, Mineral Ridge 4

Jason Higgins pitched seven innings allowing four runs on four hits and striking out seven. Austin Malutic, Jason Higgins, Dom McLaughlin and Bryan Harris each drove in one run for the Rockets. Jake Rhodes started for Mineral Ridge allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four in four innings of work

West Branch 4, Canton Central Catholic 3

Seth Schroeder had two hits with two RBIs. TJ DeShields earned his first win on the year pitching five innings. Brant Alazrus also had two hits for West Branch.

Minerva 12, West Branch 4

Danny Common led Minerva with four hits. Dakota Romano, Jack Haley and Evan Hertil each chipped in with two hits. Connor Hedrick had three hits and two RBIs for West Branch.

BOYS LACROSSE

Boardman 15, New Castle 4

Nic Ouimet scored four goals as the Spartans earned their first varsity win for the program. Devin Whitaker scored three goals while Dom Barber, Mitch Brunko and Colin Frost each had two. Also scoring were John Beck and Alex Wood. Nick Beck made three assists and Egan Hare had two. Others with assists were Ouimet, Whitaker, John Beck, Manan Shah and Roger Moore. Shah and Bryce Winebold each had five ground balls. Goalie Chris Barber made four saves.

SOFTBALL

Poland 16, Austintown Fitch 15, 9 innings

Harley Kish went 4-for-6 with Poland driving in the winning run in the ninth inning while Ally Nittoli hit a three-run home run as well. Amanda Wire went 4-for-6 while Brooke Bobbey, who pitched all nine innings for the Bulldogs (4-7), went 3-for-5 at the plate. For Fitch, Bri Protain went 3-for-4, Lainie Simons went 3-for-6 and Christina Tucker went 3-for-6 as well.

Hubbard 9, Cardinal Mooney 0

Addy Jarvis pitched a complete game shutout for Hubbard. Jarvis struck out 10 batters and walked just one. Annie Zagorec paced the Eagles offense with two hits and three RBI.

Ursuline 2, Ocean City (N.J.) 1

Winning pitcher Jordyn Kenneally had two hits and scored both runs for the Irish (7-4). In a relief role, Kenneally allowed one hit, striking out five the Myrtle Beach Grandstrand in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Struthers 11, Niles 1

Erika Bayer had three hits including a double and triple, two RBIs and scored three times. Emily Grandy had two doubles and a triple and four RBIs, and scored twice. Trinity Farrar had a grand slam to seal the win for the Wildcats. Macie Smith earned the win throwing a complete game giving up two hits and one run while striking out five. Rachel Libert and Julia Carson each had a hit for Niles.

Lakeview 14, Lakeside 1

Avery Steiner, Kylee Mann, Cait Kelm each had two hits with two RBIs. Marissa Zocacali was the winning pitcher in the contest. South Range 2, Winfield (W.Va.) 0

Wining pitcher Caragyn Yanek scattered eight hits, striking out nine and walking four in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Madison Weaver’s two hits included a double.

South Range 4, Sherman (W.Va.) 1

Yanek allowed six hits, struck out nine and walked one. Morgan Smith’s two hits included a double. Codi Taylor shad two hits and Maddie Helon doubled.

Jackson-Milton 21, Sebring 0

Sierra Pierce put together a dominate performance for Jackson-Milton on both offense and defense. Offensively, she had five hits and six RBIs and scored three runs. On the mound, she pitched all five innings, allowing just one hit and striking out 10. Jenna Seka and Korie Gross had two RBI each for the Blue Jays.

Mineral Ridge 14, Lowellville 2

Ariel Lanede notched a complete game for the Rams while striking out 13 batters. She also led the offense with three hits, including a double and two-run homer. Hannah Johnston had a single for the Rockets. Sara Sandora pitched five innings, struck out three and walked two in the loss.

Columbiana 11, Lisbon 2

Marisa McDonough pitched all seven innings allowing five hits but striking out nine. McDonough also had two hits with two RBIs for Columbiana. Kennedy Vrable had two hits and an RBI for Lisbon

McDonald 6, Western Reserve 0

Cheyenne Titus pitched seven innings only allowing two hits and striking out 15 she also contributed two hits and a RBI. Rachel Ward had two RBIs.

Minerva 10, Salem 0

Elysaa Imler went 3-3 for Minerva with two doubles. Lauren Frigyes was the winning pitcher striking out seven and walking two over five innings pitched. Bailee Thorn had two hits for the Quakers. Brooke Veglia smashed a double for Salem.
