Dublin Grange to present ‘Romeo’

The Dublin Grange Theatre, 6571 Fairground Blvd., will present “Romeo and Juliet’s Restaurant Wars” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Told in Dr. Seuss rhyme, the play is sprinkled with contemporary references to Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy.

The show, directed by Stacy Anderson, features 21 students from the HomeSchool Players, a spin-off of the AfterSchool Players, the area’s only theater organization featuring children as performers and behind-the-scenes artists.

The students are exposed to the audition process, casting, staging and blocking, lighting and sound instruction, stage managing, scenery creation and painting and stage managing.

As part of the play, there will be decorations and hands-on displays for kids featuring both Shakespeare and Dr. Seuss themes at the theater.

Tickets are $10 ($8 for students; free for children 4 and under) and will be sold at the door or in advance. For reservations, call 330-518-4064.

“Elf the Musical,” July 28-29, part of Summer Theater Camp for grades 5-12.

“The Hundred Dresses,” Nov. 17-19, the musical adaptation of Eleanor Estes’ Newberry Award-winning story about bullying and its aftermath.
