BASEBALL

Hubbard 9, Ursuline 6

Tim Herberger had a bases clearing double and Lukas Mosora had an RBI double for the Eagles (9-3). Ryan Love and Hunter Meyer had two hits apiece. Mason Trinckes pitched five innings for the win while Ryan Halavick came in for the save. Ursuline (3-9) was led offensively by Jimmy Kerrigan, who had two hits and two RBIs. Josh Scheetz had an RBI double.

Toronto 7, Boardman 4

Three unearned runs put Boardman in a early hole. Gavin Strines hit a double for the Spartans and Luke Cardillo and Mike Fetsko each had two hits.

Howland 4, Warren Harding 3, 8 innings

Keith Rounds had two hits and scored three runs for the Tigers (5-2, 4-1 All-American Conference Red Tier). Dylan Keller had three hits, scored a run and drove in one. Hayden Parker had two hits. Winning pitcher Michael Masucci struck out nine and walked one. For the Raiders, Antonio Walker had two hits and two RBIs while Devin Chambers had two hits and scored a run. Grant Williams contributed two hits and Nick Fitzgerald scored a run.

Niles 3, Glen Oak 2

Nicholas Guarnieri, Corbin Foy and Tyler Srbinovich all went 2 for 3 at the plate. Guarnieri and Srbinovich each drove in a run. Damion Coleman was 1 for 1 at the plate and plated Niles’ third run. Joseph Proper pitched five innings, allowed two runs on six hits and struck out two. Marco DeFalco got the save.

LaBrae 10, Liberty 0

LaBrae scored six runs in the sixth to invoke the mercy rule. Sam Wells hit two doubles for the winning side. J.T. Wolke knocked home three runs on two hits and stole two bases. Wolke got the win on the mound, striking out 10 while giving up two hits and no walks.

Newton Falls 6, Campbell 3

The Tigers broke a 3-3 stalemate with four runs scored across the fifth and six innings. Hayden Gazda collected four RBIs on two hits and Adam Honeycutt also had two hits. Laz LeBron had two hits for Campbell. Dylan McAvoy struck out 14 to earn the win for Newton Falls.

Girard 13, East 0

Brady Hunkus knocked in two runs on three hits for Girard. Anthony Graziano struck out eight in five innings while also getting two hits at the plate.

South Range 8, Crestview 3

Jack Bajerski led the Raiders offense with three hits including a double. Jared Bajersi had two hits and drove in two runs. Ethan Dominguez and Anthony Ritter each drove in two runs for the Raiders (7-3, 3-1 Inter-Tri County League Red Tier). For the Rebels, Tyler Hurd had four hits and drove in two runs. Tyler Fitzsimmons doubled.

Springfield 12, Salem 11

Steve Ranelli singled home Anthony Ugolini in the top of the seventh inning for the winning run. The Tigers (5-4) totaled 13 hits. John Ritter led the offensive attack with three hits, three RBIs, one run and one stolen base. Zach Renaldy added two hits including a double, with three RBIs and one run. Tyler Miletta, Russ Seymout and Ranelli each had two hits. Renaldy recorded the win and Brandon Walters got the save. Salem (2-10) was led by Turner Johnson with four hits. Braydon Gibson added three hits, two RBIs and scored two runs. Jared Carner had two hits with three RBIs. Kenny Leininger also had two hits.

Mathews 11, Southington 7

Mitch Goff went 4 for 4 with two RBIs for Mathews. Jackson Iceman added three hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Ian DeGaten collected three RBIs. Cody Helmuth and Jake Bee each had a double for Southington.

Winning pitcher Ashley Fuller struck out five batters. Kaitlyn Evanko earned the save. McKenzie Luknis hit a two-run homer and a double. She drove in six runs. Lainie Simons had two singles plus a RBI sacrifice fly. Fuller’s three hits included a RBI double that scored Sara Tuchek with the winning run. Kacie Roth hit two singles. For the Bulldogs, Ashley Wire had two hits and walked twice. Amanda Wire doubled.

Struthers 14, Niles 1

Erika Bayer’s three hits included two doubles. She drove in three RBIs and scored twice. Julia Neifer had three hits including a double and three RBIs. Macie Smith had two hits and scored twice and Lauren Vukovich tossed a complete game to earn the win, giving up two hits and no earned runs while striking out five. For Niles, Lindsay Hayes had two hits.

Springfield 11, Hubbard 10

The Tigers (9-1) hung on to win despite allowing four unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Eagles stranded the tying run at third base and the winning run at second. Cassie Bacon led Springfield’s offense with three singles and one RBI. Molly Pontius and Marlie Applegarth chipped in with a pair of singles and two RBIs each. Lindsey Druschel hit a single and drove in two runs while Josie Applegarth had two hits. Jacqueline Kish hit a single and drove in one run while Makenzy Capouellez doubled. Nikki Bovo scored the game-winning run with a solo homer. For Hubbard (9-1), Emma Wukelich’s five hits included a double. Mikayla Smith and Ruth Sandburg each hit a pair of singles. Addy Jarvis’s two hits included a double. Annie Zagorec hit a solo home run.

Canfield 13, Jefferson (W.Va.) 3

At the Grand Strand Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Bridget Durkin struck out four batters, walked one and allowed three runs for the Cardinals. Kaili Gross and Mallory Vaclav each tripled. Chloe Cruz and Jill Baker both doubled and Maura Kennedy had two hits.

Champion 11, Brookfield 0

McKenzie Zigmont (4-0) tossed a one-hitter, striking out nine and walking none. Abbi Grace’s three hits included a double. Molly Williams’ two hits included a homer while Zigmont’s two hits included a triple. Carli Swipas also had two hits. Megan Turner homerd and Hannah Gresch doubled.

Lakeview 16, Lakeside 0

Cait Kelm fanned 14 batters in the shutout. Tori Wells had two hits, including a h home run. She also had three RBIs. Kylee Mann had three hits, while Avery Steiner, Sam Marino and McKenna Cannon all added two. Steiner, Mann, Marino, Alex Romano, Cannon and Kelm drove in two runs each.

Columbiana 14, Lordstown 1

Alyssa Tohm (3-0) tossed a three-hitter for the Clippers (10-0). Morgan Highley and Jillian Stilson each had two doubles. Stilson drove in three runs and Highley one. Alexis Cross’ two hits included a double. Tohm and Marissa McDonough each contributed two hits and two RBIs. Kennedy Fullum tripled. For Lordstown (4-4), Lexi Ensign doubled while Olivia Faler and Mary Harvey had hits.

Crestview 19, Mineral Ridge 2

Trinity Boston hit three triples for Crestview, knocking in four runs. Haley Eskra added four hits and Mackenzie Daub had three and the pair scored a combined five runs. Daub struck out five and allowed one run on two hits through four innings to get the win. Hannah Ramsey hit a triple for Mineral Ridge and Ariel Laneve hit a double.

Beaver Local 8, Salem 5

Leah Pancake scored three runs and went 4 for 4 with 3 doubles. Bailee Rinestine pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts. Clara Janofa fanned six batters in the loss. Elly Exline singled, tripled and had a stolen base. Sydney Kline and Jessica Slocum also tripled, while Kline scored two runs. Hayden Carner and Brooke Veglia each doubled.

Mathews 10, Southington 0

Bailey Hall blasted two triples and a two-run home run for Mathews (10-1), who won in five innings. Paige Sponsler and Maitlyn Simon each had two hits, with Sponsler scoring twice and Simon knocking in two runs. Nicole was pitched a three-inning one-hitter, striking out seven to get the win. Brooke Wilson took the loss for Southington.
