Eighty-year-old Poland man arrested for gross sexual imposition

An 80-year-old Poland man was arrested on a felony charge of gross sexual imposition, accused of inappropriately touching the juvenile daughter of his home health care worker.

Township police were dispatched to a Wolosyn Circle apartment about 10:15 a.m. Friday, according to a police report.

The mother told police she cares for Floyd Sowers, who is charged in the incident. The woman said she brought her daughter with her to work that day, then walked in on Sowers touching her daughter’s breasts while the girl was sleeping.

Sowers then reportedly left the apartment with the help of a walker, and was found by police in a parking lot at the apartment complex.

Sowers reportedly admitted to police he touched the girl, saying, “I was trying to wake her up.”

Sowers was lodged in the Mahoning County jail, where he remained late Monday. He is scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court today.
