CANFIELD

Books, antiques, clothing and more will fill five buildings at the Canfield Fairgrounds this coming weekend.

It’s time for Angels for Animals’ annual Gigantic Garage Sale, now in its 23rd year. The fundraiser is one of the organization’s largest, bringing in approximately $110,000 last year.

“Everything we make at the garage sale is going to benefit Angels for Animals and the animals here. It directly benefits our shelter,” said Kristin Munholand, Angels medical manager. She said the funds go to operational expenses for the Canfield shelter, as well as to direct care for the animals.

The garage sale runs Friday through Sunday. Angels invites community members to bring donated items for the sale to the Canfield Fairgrounds between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. today, Tuesday and Wednesday.

“We can use anyone’s donations, whatever they want to bring out,” said Munholand.

The sale will feature a “50-cent world,” a large clothing section, a “man’s world” with items such as outdoor appliances, antiques and more. Angels does not accept the following items: televisions, computers, sofa beds, safes, encyclopedias, tires, Christmas trees, or mattresses or box springs.

“The buildings are packed. They’re always full,” said Munholand. “It’s great to see the community working together to support this organization and what we do.”

The sale begins with an early bird opportunity between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Friday. Early bird wristbands are $10, and people can get in line for them starting at 7 a.m.

Admission is $2 between 12 and 5 p.m. Friday and between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, admission is free between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Between 3:15 and 5 p.m., there will be a clearance sale – $10 for all you can carry, and $20 to add antiques.

Angels’ setup at the fairgrounds is accessible via the main entrance (Gate 5) on state Route 46. For donation pickup, call 330-549-1111, ext. 330.

“Come hang out for the day and get whatever you’re looking to have,” said Munholand.
