Rodman Library hosts authors and artisans

ALLIANCE

Rodman Public Library, 215 E. Broadway St., will sponsor an Authors and Artisans Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Authors will be in the main auditorium, and artisans will be in the children’s programming room and main gallery.

The event will feature 18 authors from Ohio who will be selling and signing their books: Gloria Adams, Karen Biery, Carolyn Caskey, Nancy Christie, Hugh Earnhart, Sandra Gurvis, Will Hillenbrand, Don King, Jonathan Night, Lana Wayne Koehler, Wendy Koile, Irv Korman, Matt Lupica, Marlene C. Miller, Roger Pickenpaugh, Les Roberts, Robert Sberna and Jane Ann Turzillo.

Local artisans will be selling primitive wood art, woven rugs, handmade candles, wooden bowls and trays, fiber and felted items, metal work and crocheted items.

5th "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" novel has a title

NEW YORK

The fifth book in “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” series now has a title: “The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye.”

Publisher Alfred A. Knopf announced a Sept. 12 release date for the novel, to be written by David Lagercrantz and again featuring protagonists Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist.

Lagercrantz took over the series after creator Stieg Larsson died in 2004. The Swedish author wrote the first three thrillers, which became an international and posthumous phenomenon.

"Hidden Figures" author sets book in Baltimore

NEW YORK

The author of “Hidden Figures” is setting her next book around two prominent African-American households in mid-20th century Baltimore.

Viking told The Associated Press recently that it had a two-book deal with Margot Lee Shetterly that will continue her quest to tell of African-Americans who have been overlooked by historians. The first book centers on the Murphy family, which owned a leading African-American newspaper in Baltimore, and the Adamses, who were influential philanthropists and investors.

The book doesn’t yet have a title or release date. No details were available for the second book.
