SATURDAY’S RESULTS

BASEBALL

Poland 12, Mohawk 1

Winning pitcher William Aey tossed a five-inning two-hitter. He struck out six batters and walked none. Braeden O’Shaughnessy led the Bulldogs (8-2) at the plate by hitting two doubles to drive in two runs. Michael Farber had two hits while Pad O’Shaughnessy and Reed McCreery each scored two runs. Tyler Cummings and Justin Woods had Mohawk’s hits.

Columbiana 6, Western Reserve 3

The Clippers (10-0) scored six in the fifth to end the Blue Devils’ winning streak at nine games. Wyatt Larimer pitched four innings of no-hit ball, striking out seven and walking one before getting pulled for Ryan Demsky in the fifth. Demsky gave up six runs on three hits and three walks. The Clippers’ Mitch Davidson broke the shutout with an RBI single, Keenan Green hit a two run single and Jake Clark followed up with a two-run double to center field. Zach Fahs knocked home the Clippers’ final run. Chase Franken picked up the win on the mound, giving up three runs on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Fahs picked up the save.

Niles 10, South Range 1

Tyler Srbinovich took the rubber and fanned 10 South Range batters. He also drove in two runs. Marco DeFalco had three hits, two RBIs and scored once. Tre Martin, Damion Coleman, and Corbin Foy recorded two hits each. Josh Ster had one hit and drove in the Raiders’ run.

Reynolds 8, Springfield 6

Grey DeCiancio led Reynolds with three hits and three RBIs. Evan Ferguson added two hits and Noah Fuch and Andrew Herman each scored two runs. All nine players had hits for Springfield. Anthony Ugolini led with two.

East Palestine 11-5, Maplewood 6-3

Dalton Dance went the distance, striking out five and walking one. He also led the offense with two hits and two runs scored. Alex Guy went 3 for 4 with a three-run home run. Maplewood tallied nine hits. In the second game, Dance went 2 for 4 and scored two runs. Marshall Huddlestone got the win. He fanned eight batters and walked three in six innings. Dustin Dourn got the save. Maplewood scattered nine more hits, including two from Bell and Dedlion.

Minerva 11-6, Lisbon 8-4

The Blue Devils tallied 12 hits. Colin Sweeney, C. Summers, Justin Sweeney, Noah Barnes and S. Donaldson all had two hits. Donaldson, D. Toot and Summers drove in two runs each. In game two, Summers was 2 for 2 at the plate, scored twice and plated one.

West Branch 5-10, Akron Springfield 4-8

Gino Sabatine’s two hits drove in a run in the opener. T.J. DeShields doubled while Brant Alazaus and Seth Schroeder both had RBI singles. For Springfield, Travis Whitecotton and Paul Stubbs each had two hits including doubles. In the second game, Schroeder drove in two runs with two hits for the Warriors (11-2). Alazaus’ two hits included a double while Sabatine drove in three runs with two hits. DeShields scored twice. For Springfield (1-9), Andrew Hanna had three hits.

SOFTBALL

Springfield 10, Reynolds 0

Josie Applegarth limited Reynolds to four hits while striking out nine and walking none. The Springfield offense was led by Nikki Bovo who had a single and a double with two runs batted in and two stolen bases. Jacqueline Kish, Lindsey Druschel and Cassie Bacon each singled. Kish drove in a pair of runs and Druschel drove in one.

Springfield 15, Liberty 0

Kish and Marlie Applegarth combined to throw a one-hitter against Liberty, combining to strike out seven and walk one. Brianna Yemma knocked in four runs on two hits while scoring three runs for Springfield (8-1). Bovo hit a double and scored three times for the winning side.

Steubenville 10, Poland 0

M. Fields got the win for Steubenville. R. DeMarrezio, H. Stamps and L. Fergus each had two hits. R. Patrisko also had two hits, including a home run. Ashley Wire went 3 for 3 with a double for Poland. Sarah Boccieri was 1 for 2.

St. Clairsville 9, Poland 1

Amya Smith pitched a complete game and homered for the Red Devils. St. Clairsville had 11 hits. Poland finished with three hits. Harley Kish, Amanda Wire and Boccieri each had one.

Mineral Ridge 13, Pyamatuning Valley 12

Lexy Haynes hit a two-run home run for Mineral Ridge and Hannah Ramsey hit two doubles. On the mound, Haynes struck out six and walked three.

Crestview 6, Beaver Local 3

The Rebels tallied 14 hits in the win. W. Cope was a homerun shy of the cycle and drove in three runs. MacKenzie Daub hit a home run with one on. H. Eskra, B. Coblentz, O. Strank, E. Smith and S. Mattern each had two hits. Daub picked up the win, had 11 strikeouts and gave up 11 hits.
