Leadership class

YOUNGSTOWN

Applications for the Leadership Mahoning Valley Class of 2017-18 are available and may be submitted through May 5.

Participants complete a nine-month program, which includes nine monthly day-long sessions that focus on major community systems such as education, health, human service, heritage, government, justice, labor, business, poverty and diversity.

A selection committee will review all application and choose up to 40 participants for the 2017-18 class.

The tuition fee of $2,000 covers all program costs, including meals, admission fees and program supplies. Selected applicants will be billed for tuition. Applications may be requested by email at karen@regionalchamber.com or by phone at 330-744-2131, ext. 1241 .

Steelton history

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor will have a YSU graduate class presentation from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the museum. The program traces the development of the historic lower west side of Youngstown’s Steelton neighborhood. This neighborhood developed rapidly with the growth of the Ohio Steel Co., the Lower Mills and eventually the U.S. Steel Ohio Works.

This event is free and open to the public. It will take place inside the Harry Meshel classroom of the museum. All former steel company employees, family members of employees, historians and interested parties are invited to attend this event.

Entrepreneurs sought

YOUNGSTOWN

Walmart is looking for Ohio entrepreneurs to pitch their made in the U.S. products to the company’s buyers in a daylong event at Walmart’s global headquarters in Bentonville, Ark., on June 28.

Registration has started at walmart-jump.com and the deadline is May 18.

Walmart buyers will be looking to make deals of varying sizes.

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have an “Effective Networking for Leaders” seminar at Ciminero’s at 123 N. Main St. from 7:30 to 9 a.m. April 26.
