Boys track has victory at Chaney

The Boardman boys track team improved its record to 4-0 on April 4 with a victory over Ashtabula Lakeside and Youngstown East at Chaney High School in Youngstown by a score of 97-28-17.

The Spartans opened the meet with a first place finish in the 4x800 relay with the team of seniors Chris Butler, Nick Digiacomo, Dom Eorio and freshman Mitchel Dunham. The next event, the 110-meter hurdles, sophomore Eri Ojewale was second, freshman Brian Yauger was third and sophomore Ceaonnie Jones was fourth. In the 100-meter dash, Spartan senior JaJuan Forte placed second, and the 4x200 relay team of

junior Justice Jama, senior Caeden Rogers, sophomore Josh Rodriguez and senior Sheldon Broyles placed first.

In the 1600-meter run, senior Nick Digiacomo took first, he was followed by Dunham in second place and senior Nathaniel Ams in fourth. The Spartans placed first in the 4x100 meter relay with the team of senior Jason Clinkscale, Rogers, Broyles and Forte. Senior Koby Adu-Poku finished first in the 400-meter run followed by sophomore Trevor Boggess in third and sophomore Payton Torres in fourth. Ojewale placed first in the 300 hurdles followed by Yauger in second and sophomore Miles Spearman in fourth. In the 800-meter run, seniors Eorio, Matt Maroni and Jack Swavel placed second-fourth. The Spartans swept the 200 with junior Ethan Himes in first, Forte in second, Rodriguez in third and Jama fourth. The next event was the 3200-meter run which was won by Butler with junior Mark Moradian in second and Dunham in third. The 4x400 relay team of Adu-Poku, Rodriguez, Broyles and Ams closed the meet with a first place finish.

In the field events, senior George Wallace placed first in both the shot put and discus, junior Steven Amstutz was second in the shot put and junior Zach David was fourth in the discus. The pole vault and

high jump were not contested due to lack of equipment and the long jump was not contested due to poor event conditions.

The Boardman track meet MVP was Ojewale for his outstanding efforts in the events he competed in on April 4.
