BASEBALL

Howland 6, Poland 0

Dylan Keller pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out 10 and walking just one for the victory. He also had two hits and an RBI to help his own cause. Dylan Beasom had two hits and two RBIs while Zachary Campbell had two hits and an RBI also for Howland (4-1, 3-1 AAC Red). Cole Kosco had two hits for Poland.

Boardman 6, Canisius 2

Dom Stilliana had three hits and Evan Kraus had two hits with a double as they paced the Boardman offense. Mike Melewski picked up the win in relief of Bob Toth.

IMG Academy 3, Boardman 2

The Spartans only had three hits in the game each hit leading to a double from the bats of Luke Cardillo, Gaven Strines, and Mike Fetsko. Cameron Kreps and Jarod Wilson combined to throw a no hitter but IMG was able to score on two errors and a walk.

West Branch 4, Canton Central Catholic 3

Seth Schroeder had two hits with two RBIs. TJ DeShields earned his first win on the year pitching five innings. Brant Alazrus also had two hits for West Branch.

Champion 5, Newton Falls 1

Drake Batcho struck out 14 as the Flashes kept the Tigers at bay. He also hit a double and scored a run. Lucas Nasonti hit a solo home run and A.J. Meyer collected to RBIs on two hits. Hayden Gazda had two hits for Newton Falls.

Girard 10, Brookfield 3

Tyler O’Dell pitched six innings for Girard, striking out six and throwing first-pitch strikes to 15 of the batters he faced. Hitting stats for Girard were not available. Connor Filipovich had three hits for Brookfield.

South Range 4, Lakeview 3

Winning pitcher Nick Deal walked three and struck out one. Brandon Youngs doubled and drove in three runs for the Raiders. For the Bulldogs, Jim DePizzo and Brock Sarko each had two hits and Daniel Brammer drove in two runs.

Rootstown 8, LaBrae 2

C. Stoneman had two of the Vikings’ five hits. J. Wolke and T. Morris had RBIs.

Crestview 5 John Marshall 2

Devin Turvey had two hits, stole a base and scored a run for the Rebels (5-2). Stephan Barr, Tyler Hurd and Dylan Ball had hits and Kaden Davis scored two runs. Jake Crawford was the winning pitcher and Peyton Wolfe earned the save. Hunter Keller, Kyle Reilly, Logan Grimm and BB Santimarimo had hits for John Marshall.

Mathews 13, Pymatuning Valley 2

The Mustangs handled the Lakers in five innings. Ian DeGaten led Mathews with three hits. Dan Carter, Anthony Oulton, Mitch Goff and Jordan Brown each had two hits and at least two RBIs for Mathews. Ryan Kay was the winning pitcher, striking out nine to earn the victory.

Lowellville 9, Sebring 2

Lowellville defeated Sebring thanks to six runs in the sixth inning. Jason Higgins earned the win, going seven innings allowing two runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out eight. Dom Layko, Nate Solak, Dom McLaughlin and Matt Hynes all had two hits for the Rockets. Nick Weingart had two hits for Sebring.

SOFTBALL

Canfield 10, Warren Harding 0

Ally Sammarco scored three runs on three hits for Canfield and Chloe Cruz collected two hits. Payton Schuller had a hit for Harding. Kaili Gross struck out two to get the win.

Canfield 8, Louisville 6

Chloe Cruz scored two runs on two hits and Savannah Maass had two RBIs for the Cardinals. Bridget Durkin struck out three and walked two in seven innings to get the win.

Hubbard 4, Jefferson 3

Morgan Kist’s single in the bottom of the seventh inning scored drove in the winning run. Kist also had a RBI single in the first inning. Winning pitcher Addy Jarvis tossed a three-hitter and struck out four. Kist and Jarvis each had three hits. Hannah Kist drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Annie Zagorec, Mikayla Smith and Lea Munnell had multiple hits for the Eagles.

Lakeview 3, West Branch 2

Bailey Byers had a home run for West Branch Grace Heath helped out with two hits. Tori Wells and Beatrice Titus both had two hits for Lakeview.

Brookfield 8, Girard 4

Kenzie Drapola led Brookfield with three hits and two RBI’s while Bailey Drapola and Lauren Pesa both had two hits. Emily Scarnecchia hit a home run for Girard and Jessica Dohy had two RBIs for Girard.

Springfield 6, Mineral Ridge 0

Jacqueline Kish allowed four hits, struck out 13 and walked one for the Tigers (6-1). Molly Pontius’ three hits included two double and drove in all six of Springfield’s runs. Cassie Bacon hit two singles and a double and scored three runs. Kish contributed three singles. Makenzy Capouellez and Marlie Applegarth also had hits.

McDonald 13, Jackson-Milton 2

Rachel Ward pitched all five innings, striking out eight and walking none in the process. Megan Ward had a double, two RBIs and two runs scored while Hannah Donkers had an RBI and two runs scored. Olivia Sanson also had two hits and an RBI in the win. Sierra Pierce had both hits and the lone RBI for the Bluejays.

United 11, Mineral Ridge 5

United was aided by five Mineral Ridge errors. Black had two hits for the Golden Eagles in the win while Carfolo had two hits for the Rams.

Lowellville 12, Sebring 0

Isabella Sotlar hit two doubles and drove in a run. She tossed a two-hitter, striking out 10. Also for the Rockets (2-3, 2-2 ITCL White), Hannah Johnston‘s two hits included a double and she drove in two runs. Olivia Sotlar hit two doubles and drove in two runs.

Western Reserve 10, Salem 3

Layla Woolf had four hits including a double and two RBIs for Western Reserve, which pounded out 16 hits in the win. Gracie Wayland, Kate Deal and Maddie O’Rock each had two hits and an RBI each for the Blue Devils. Taylor Morrison scored two of the three Salem runs while Clara Janofa had two hits for the Quakers.

Crestview 11, Struthers 10

Olivia Strank pitched five innings with five strikeouts and she also had two hits and an RBI. MacKenzie Daub hit a home run with three RBIs for Crestview. Struthers was led by Khaylah Brown who had four hits and three stolen bases. Erika Bayer chipped in with three hits and five stolen bases.

Mathews 5, Pymatuning Valley 4

Pyamatuning Valley lead 3-0 initially, but Mathews pulled even in the fourth and led the rest of the way. Maitlyn Simon and Alivia Oulton each collected to RBIs on two hits. Nicole Watts struck out six to earn the victory. Maddie Hurst struck out 10 in a losing effort for Pymatuning Valley.

Garrettsville Garfield 7, Badger 3

Hannah Smith hit a home run for the G-Men. Camran Zec collected an RBI on two hits and Haylee Mott scored a run on two hits.
