Youngstown State University students, employees and others will participate in the Take Back the Night march and rally against sexual violence 4 p.m. Thursday on campus. The march starts at The Rock on the campus core and will be followed by a rally at The Rock. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place in the President’s Suite, Kilcawley Center.
Electronics sale
YOUNGSTOWN
Youngstown State University is having a sale on its surplus electronics from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday in Cushwa Hall Room B232 which is in the basement. It is open to the public. Items include desktop computers with no operating systems installed, monitors, keyboards, mice, computer cables and laser printers. Price ranges are from 75 cents to $45. All sales are final and the items bought need to be taken that day. Cash and charge will be used as form of payment.
Charged with assault
AUSTINTOWN
A man is charged with assault on a police officer after a bar fight early Sunday. DeWayne Jordan, 21, of Warren, punched an officer while they were pursuing another suspect, according to a report.
Officers were pursuing a man accused of punching a security guard at Club Elevate at 1793 S. Raccoon Road. During the pursuit, Jordan reportedly pulled an officer to the side and punched him in the chest. Jordan was incapacitated by a stun weapon and placed under arrest.
Jordan said he was trying to defend his mother, who had been pushed to the ground during the commotion after reportedly attempting to distract officers.
Jordan is charged with assault on a police officer. The initial suspect eluded police.
