Allison Pitinii Davis to read her poetry

Allison Pitinii Davis will read her poetry at noon Wednesday in the Jones Room of Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University, and also at 7 p.m. Friday at Kravitz Deli’s meeting room, 3135 Belmont Ave., Liberty.
The reading at Kravitz will be followed by a reception with music by Kristi Lue and the Midnites, featuring Harmonica Harry.
Davis is a Boardman native who currently is an instructor at a college in Tennessee. She recently published “Line Study of a Motel Clerk,” a book of poetry inspired by her family history and the Mahoning Valley.
Theater bus trip to ‘Rotten’ matinee

The Victorian Players Theatre is sponsoring a bus trip to Playhouse Square in Cleveland on May 13 to see a matinee performance of the musical comedy “Something Rotten.” The bus will depart the theater, 702 Mahoning Ave., at 11 a.m. A boxed lunch will be provided. Grateful Dead film is coming to Tinseltown

“The Grateful Dead Movie 40th Anniversary” will be screened at 7 p.m. April 20 at Tinseltown cinemas. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Tinseltown box office or online at FathomEvents.com.
Co-directed by Jerry Garcia and shot on 16mm film during October 1974’s five-night “farewell” run at San Francisco’s Winterland, the concert film captures live performances from the revered band (Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Donna Godchaux and Keith Godchaux).
In addition to the feature presentation, audiences also will get an exclusive look at footage from the upcoming Grateful Dead documentary, “Long Strange Trip,” executive produced by Martin Scorsese and directed by Amir Bar-Lev. There also will be a never-before-seen minidocumentary about the band’s legendary May 8, 1977, show at Cornell University, including new interviews with fans who were there.
