YOUNGSTOWN

Wendell Wallach, a consultant, ethicist and scholar at Yale University’s Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics, will present “How to Keep Technology from Slipping Beyond our Control” at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University. The free lecture is part of the Dr. Thomas and Albert Shipka Speaker Series and is presented by the YSU Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. Wallach will explore how society can minimize the risks and societal impact of specific areas of research, and of the overall trajectory of scientific innovation through ethics, engineering and oversight.

Springtime stroll

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.

Jennings Environmental Education Center is sponsoring a free springtime stroll from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday. Jennings staff will lead the group in exploring and experiencing the springtime wonders that might be encountered on the informal, seasonal walk. Trump tax rally

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning Valley residents will rally on Central Square, downtown, from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday as part of a nationwide Tax March to demand that President Donald Trump release his tax returns. The Youngstown Tax March organizing committee is an all-volunteer group sponsored by Valley Voices in Action and ProgressMV. It joins with more than 100 other events planned for cities around the country on what is traditionally known as tax day when the public does its part to pay for the services it receives from the government.
