Drug overdose ruled cause of death

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning County Coroner’s office has ruled that Billie Beshara, the woman whose body was found behind a Boardman plaza last month, died of a drug overdose.

Toxicology tests found that Beshara, 48, of Boardman, had heroin, cocaine, fentanyl and alcohol in her system at the time of her death, according to the coroner’s office.

Beshara’s body was found in an SUV parked in a lot shared by Starbucks and Nicolinni’s restaurant March 7.

She had previously been reported missing by her husband.

Beshara’s death certificate was signed Friday.

Prayer service for fracking opposition

BROOKFIELD

A prayer service by the Rev. Monica Beasley-Martin will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday for concerned citizens who oppose two proposed fracking waste injection wells to be located in Brookfield Township.

Attendees will gather for prayer on public property at the village green at Brookfield Center. The prayer service will call attention to the need for Ohio Department of Natural Resources officials to immediately deny permits to drill the two proposed injection wells in order to protect the public health, safety and well-being of the Brookfield community and entire surrounding region.

Police search for suspect in theft

AUSTINTOWN

Police are looking for a man they suspect of stealing more than $2,000 of merchandise, according to a report.

A loss-prevention officer with the Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave., provided police with surveillance footage of a white male leaving the store without paying for the merchandise early Thursday.

Police said he collected items in a cart, went to the housewares department and put the items into a tote bag. He then walked out of the store with the items in the tote bag. The merchandise included groceries, several security cameras and several computer routers.

Boy, 14, faces charge

A 14-year-old boy faces a felony charge after an incident reported at Glenwood Junior High School, according to a police report.

Jerolnashiah Wiggins, 14, of Melrose Avenue is charged with felonious assault for the incident reported March 31.

A township police officer responded to the school for a report of a fight in a hallway. A student reportedly suffered injuries including bruises, scratches, cuts to their gums, a bloody nose and a possible concussion. Police arrested the teenager Thursday at his home, according to the report.

Roads to close

LIBERTY

Beginning Monday, Anderson-Morris Road over state Route 11 will be closed through late June for a bridge replacement. The detour will be Anderson-Morris Road to U.S. Route 422 to Tibbetts-Wick Road to Pleasant Valley Road, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced.

Also beginning Monday, state Route 14 between Pine Lake Road and state Route 14T in Goshen Township, Mahoning County, will be closed through Friday, for a culvert replacement. The detour will be state Route 14 to state Route 45 to state Route 165.
