The Austintown Kiwanis Club hosted its sixth annual pancake breakfast at the Austintown Community Church on March 18.

Every year, the Austintown Kiwanis Club hosts a pancake breakfast to raise money to give back to the youth in Austintown. There are between 250-300 people who come to enjoy a breakfast of pancakes, eggs and sausage with coffee or juice.

Austintown Fitch Key Club students attend the breakfast to help serve the meals to the guests. Key Club is the high school equivalent of Kiwanis and gives the students experience of working with Kiwanis members and doing community service projects.

“All the money goes back to the Kiwanis for the youth,” said Kiwanis member Dr. Dave Ritchie.

There was a basket raffle for guests to buy tickets for to help raise money. The baskets were all donated by Kiwanis members and other businesses and organizations.

Tweety Bird was at the breakfast for the children to play and take pictures with.

Students who participated in the essay contest at Austintown Middle School were encouraged to attend the event with their families.

The Kiwanis Club has the pancake breakfast when the Trash and Treasure sale at the Austintown Community Church is going on to allow more people to attend both events. Tickets were available for pre-sale and also at the door for anyone who wanted to come.
