‘My Big Fat Gay Wedding’
Rust Belt Theater Company will bring back its original musical “My Big Fat Gay Wedding” for six performances beginning Friday at Calvin Center, 755 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown. Written by Robert Dennick Joki and Josh Taylor, with choreography by Marisa Zamary, “Wedding” follows the journey of a plus-size, middle-age gay couple as they venture into the new frontier of marriage equality – and the challenges of planning a wedding. Songs include “Weddings for Straight People,” “It Gets Better [Unless You’re Fat]” and “Straight ... to the Altar With the Man of My Dreams.” David Cirelli, left, and Joki, right, star in the musical. The cast also includes Nicole Zayas, Kage Coven, Zamary, Lisa Torrence, Rachel Clifford, Heather Powell, Celena Coven, James Hain, Ryan Musgrove, Jessica Patoray and Amanda Rudnytsky.
