Charged in assault
YOUNGSTOWN
A woman baby-sitting for a West Side woman Monday evening said she was pistol-whipped after the suspect’s dog got outside.
Police were called about 11:30 p.m. to a home in the 500 block of Moherman Avenue, where the victim told them Helen Solinger, 35, got upset when she found out while working the dog got out. Solinger came home, grabbed a .22-caliber handgun from her bedroom, put it to the victim’s face, then started beating her and pulling her hair, police said.
The victim live-streamed the attack on Facebook, and when Solinger found out she turned the phone off, reports said. Solinger faces a felonious-assault charge and was booked into the Mahoning County jail. The dog did come back, police said.
Suboxone stolen
AUSTINTOWN
A man told police 24 doses of Suboxone, which is used to treat opioid dependence, had been stolen from his car.
He had only been to the Sheetz at 5499 Mahoning Ave. since placing the medication in his car, police were told. Otherwise, it was parked at his Plumbrook Drive residence. He also told police he keeps his vehicle locked when he isn’t in it.
Teen to be arraigned
POLAND
Jeremy Britton, 17, is scheduled to be arraigned today in Mahoning County Juvenile Court on charges related to a robbery at a township fast-food restaurant.
Britton faces two counts of aggravated robbery with gun specifications. The charges stem from a robbery reported shortly after midnight Monday at the Burger King on U.S. Route 224 in the township.
Three other people are facing charges in connection with the crime. U.S. marshals arrested Britton on Tuesday on Youngstown’s North Side. He is in the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center.
Man surrenders
BOARDMAN
A township man wanted on an aggravated-robbery charge surrendered to police Monday. Charged with the first-degree felony is Joseph Zaku, 19, of Argyle Avenue. The charge stems from an incident reported March 29 by the mother of the purported victim, according to a police report.
Police accuse Zaku of pulling a gun on a male victim March 25 and making him remove everything from his pockets. Zaku said he would kill the victim if he contacted the police, reports said.
The victim reported the incident after a similar event occurred several days later and he was advised by Youngstown police to report the first incident, he told township police.
