17-year-old arrested on gun charge in Austintown

AUSTINTOWN

Police arrested a 17-year-old who is accused of possessing a stolen handgun early Sunday, according to a report.

Billy McGeorge Jr., 17, was in the passenger seat of a car outside Club Pandora at 169 S. Four Mile Run Road about 1 a.m. Sunday.

While being placed under arrest on a curfew violation, McGeorge told police he had marijuana on him, and officers recovered a knotted plastic bag containing the drug.

Officers also said they found a .40-caliber handgun under his seat with 14 rounds in its magazine, which McGeorge told police he carries for protection.

The gun had been reported stolen in Warren.

McGeorge was booked at the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown.

He had a juvenile court hearing on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana.

McGeorge’s father, also named Billy, was the victim of a 2008 homicide.

The elder McGeorge was 32 when he was found shot to death in the driveway of a Marion Avenue home on Youngstown’s South Side.
