Day Ketterer has moved into its new Mahoning Valley location. The office is in City Centre One, 100 E. Federal St., Suite 145. Attorneys and staff in the Youngstown office will begin seeing clients and other business partners Monday.

Ribbon-cutting set

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony for Sweet Melissa’s Good Eats, 6810 Market St. at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Sweet Melissa’s Good Eats, owned and operated by Melissa Poland, is a cafe featuring fresh, made-to-order wraps and salads and daily slider specials.

Autism fundraiser

Through Sunday, 100 percent of the proceeds from all Pieces of Hope cookie sales will be donated to The Rich Center and Potential Development. The puzzle-piece cookie, designed by the Panera Bread bakers, is the national symbol for autism because of the mysteries and complexity of the Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Pieces of Hope puzzle-piece cookies will be sold in all Panera cafes in the Mahoning Valley and Hermitage, Pa.

Throughout April, Panera Bread will also be collecting community cashbox donations at the registers of all of its local cafes to raise additional funds for Rich Center and Potential Development schools.

Sotomayor talks to law students; no Gorsuch mention

ALBANY, N.Y.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor talked to law students about her family, the collegial relationship among her fellow justices and the roles of passion and empathy in a legal career, but she made no mention of the U.S. Senate confirmation hearings of Neil Gorsuch in an appearance at Albany Law School on Monday evening.

“We can disagree about the best answer, but it’s all born from the same passion about the law,” Sotomayor said in response to a student’s question about whether anger over differing judicial opinions makes it hard to have a collegial court. “What gets people to listen to you is your passion, not your anger.”

Verizon to take over Yahoo, AOL

SAN FRANCISCO

Verizon Communications will create a new company called Oath after it completes its $4.5 billion acquisition of Yahoo and melds the troubled internet company with its AOL operations.

Oath will oversee Yahoo and AOL after the deal is completed. The Yahoo and AOL brands are expected to survive, although Verizon says it won’t provide any details about its plans for Oath until this summer.
