Spring into Gardening seminar is April 15 in Mercer, Pa.

MERCER, PA.
Penn State Master Gardeners of Mercer County will present its annual Spring Into Gardening seminar from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 15 at the Penn State Extension-Mercer County Office, 463 N. Perry Highway, 1.5 miles north of Mercer.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with a continental-style breakfast. Cost is $14 per person.
Topics presented will be making rain barrels, with a demonstration by master gardener Mindy Epstein; plants in archaeological sites with archaeologist Amanda Valko, also a Lawrence County master gardener, who will focus on the recovery of plant remains from archaeological sites and how they are processed and analyzed; and straw bale gardening with Dave Hughes, another Lawrence County master gardener, who will explain how planting in straw bales can solve gardening problems.
