Calla Community Church, 6482 W. Calla Road, welcomes a new minister. The Rev. Kenneth Gingrich has accepted the position as the new religious leader for the church.
Calla Community Church is a traditional church and is nondenominational. Everyone is welcome to the Sunday service at 10 a.m.
Steelers talk about life experiences
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.
New Life Baptist Church, 3414 state Route 208, will host a men’s event titled “Legends of the Huddle,” featuring current and former Pittsburgh Steelers talking about their experiences.
Tailgating will begin at 10 a.m. with the event starting at noon April 8. Cost of admission is $20 per person, which includes tailgate food.
Featured speakers include Arthur Moats, Mike Adams, and Jon Kolb. Craig Wolfley will emcee.
Ursuline Center hosts Women’s Day of Renewal

Ursuline High School will host “A Women’s Day of Renewal: Our Journey with Jesus During Lent” from 9 a.m. to noon next Saturday at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road. Registration is required. A free-will offering is optional.
After the continental breakfast, Sister Mary McCormick will present a spiritual discussion on the Easter Triduum, the period of three days that begins with the liturgy on the evening of Holy Thursday and ends with evening prayer on Easter Sunday.
There will also be individual reflection time for a labyrinth walk, prayer in the chapel, information on essential oils for meditation and more.

Celebrating 17 years

New Beginnings Outreach Ministries, 2007 S. Schenley Ave., is celebrating 17 years of ministry by hosting two events. Sunday there will be a morning worship at 10:30 a.m. with special guest speaker Pastor Maurice Trent from Lighthouse Cathedral in Pittsburgh. At 4 p.m. there will be a celebration with guest speaker Pastor Chris Crump from Unity Christian Fellowship in Columbus.

Honoring Dr. King

The Baptist Pastors Council will sponsor a community commemoration honoring the leadership legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at noon on the anniversary of his assassination, Tuesday in the Mahoning County Courthouse Rotunda. The Rev. Gena Thornton is the keynote speaker. MLK Testament of Hope Scholarship recipients will also be recognized.
Scouts to receive Catholic religious awards

St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St., will host about 50 Boy and Girl scouts who will be receiving their Catholic religious awards from Bishop George Murry.
Bishop Murry will be officiating the celebration beginning at 10 a.m. next Saturday. Scouts of all ages will be in attendance. Adult leaders will also receive their respective religious awards.
A light refreshment reception will follow the presentations in the cathedral’s Fellowship Hall.
Author to discuss children’s book, Uganda

Patty Jackson, author of the children’s book, “Scovia’s Gift,” will visit Christ the King Anglican Church, 202 E. Park Ave., at 11 a.m. Thursday to discuss her experiences in Uganda, Africa, that inspired her to write a story for children.
She will speak and answer questions about the book, bring an update on Uganda and describe the process of writing for her as a beginning author. Earlier in the day, she will share her story with students at Heartland School.

Youngstown Chamber Music program

The Youngstown Chamber Music presents a program commemorating Yom Hashoah. This event will feature music from composers affected by the Holocaust of World War II, both Jewish and non-Jewish.
The 21/2-hour event will begin at noon April 20, at the Jewish Community Center’s multipurpose room, 505 Gypsy Lane.
