The Austintown library is introducing a new station for the children to get involved with STEM activities.
STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics - has become a subject that more and more younger children are becoming involved in, whether it be at school or on their own time. Austintown library’s children’s section will display two new STEM stations to explore every week for the month of September.
The first week, the library set up a tornado station with a water-filled pop bottle and a scale station to balance different items. Every week, the two new experiments will be replaced with a new interactive activity for the children to engage with while learning new information.
Many of the activities will be made from materials that children and their families may be able to find around the house, making it easy for them to recreate the activities at home.
Libraries in the Mahoning Valley are working on creating more STEAM-related exhibits in the libraries for children to have easy access to and help them learn about new subjects.
