Neighbors | Submitted.Superintendent Dr. Ronald Iarussi welcomed the group at one of the open houses in August.
In preparation for the start of the 2016-2017 school year, Valley STEM + ME2 Academy hosted two open houses for the new students and their families on Aug. 11 and Aug. 16.
With more than 250 people in attendance families had the opportunity to tour the new school and STEM Fab Lab, as well as learn more about their schedules and the project-based learning approach they will be learning.
The new school is being housed at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center on Palmyra Road in Canfield. The mission of the STEM Academy is to prepare students in ninth and tenth grade with the skills necessary to compete in the global economy while nurturing the characteristics of discovery, invention, application and entrepreneurship. The academy has a STEM-designation from the Ohio Department of Education. Students in Mahoning County and surrounding areas, can apply through open-enrollment.
