Poland United Methodist Church hosted a Family Funday Carnival on Sept. 17 for everyone to enjoy.

That was the first time the church hosted the carnival. The goal was to create a day for families to come together and have fun and become aware of the Poland United Methodist Church and what they have to offer.

“We had an amazing turnout, I think over 1,000 people, and there’s still people coming,” said Becca Simon, the Christian Education Director.

Everything at the carnival was free. There were different carnival games, bouncy houses inside the church, a petting zoo and even pony rides. The guests who played the games got tickets at the end and could turn those in for a prize. The church had fundraisers to raise the money so everything could be free.

There was carnival food, snow cones, lemon shakes and cotton candy available for those who got hungry. There were several prizes, such as stuffed animals and other toys, the children could trade their tickets in for at the end of the event.

“At 11:30 a.m., the carnival started at noon, all of our games were inside. We decided at the last minute to move outside and it was sunny the whole day,” said Simon.

Everyone who was working the games stations were all members of the church who volunteered their time to help make the carnival a success. This gave the opportunity for guests to meet members of the church and learn more about it.

The church plans on making the carnival an annual event and is looking for ways to make it bigger and better.

The church is always welcoming new members, especially for the Kids Club program.
