Street transfer

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning County commissioners have approved the transfer of the one-block section of Meadowbrook Avenue between Market Street and Southern Boulevard from being maintained by the county to Boardman Township maintenance. “It makes more sense for the township to maintain it than the county,” county Engineer Patrick Ginnetti said of the residential street Thursday. Bid for roof work

NILES

Architect Bruce Sekanick said Thursday he will recommend city council accept the bid of $203,000 from a New Castle, Pa., roofing company to replace the deteriorating city hall roof. The bid from SRI Roofing was well below Sekanick’s estimate of $295,000.

It was also considerably less than two other bids of $290,000 and $293,000. Sekanick said SRI met the requirements for the lowest and best bid. “We checked everything with this company, and they are in compliance,” Sekanick said. He will discuss his recommendation at a public forum at 6 p.m. Monday in council chambers.
