YSO to open pops series with tribute to Beatles

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra with conductor Randall Craig Fleischer will open its pops series on Saturday with a concert called The Classical Mystery Tour: A Tribute to The Beatles.

The concert starts at 8 p.m. at Powers Auditorium, 260 W. Federal St., downtown. Tickets are available at the DeYor Performing Arts Center box office, by phone at 330-744-0264, and online at youngstownsymphony.com.

It was 50 years ago that the Beatles made their final U.S. tour, which included Cleveland.

At Saturday’s YSO concert, Tyson Kelly, Tony Kishman, Tom Teeley and Chris Camilleri will portray the original quartet. The four musicians look and sound like the Beatles, but Classical Mystery Tour is more than just a rock concert. It presents more than two dozen Beatles tunes transcribed note-for-note and performed exactly as they were originally recorded.

Since its initial performance in California in 1996, Classical Mystery Tour has become the No. 1 symphony pops attraction, performing consistently with more than 100 orchestras in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia.
