WARREN

Emmett J. Nelson, 33, of Miller Street, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to felonious assault and is in the Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond, charged with dragging a man down a driveway with Nelson’s car.

His hearing was in Warren Municipal Court. The victim was treated at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Warren police said the charge relates to a complaint by a Tod Avenue Northwest man, 33, that Nelson injured him by running him over in Nelson’s car on purpose at 11:30 Monday night at the victim’s home.

The victim said Nelson is dating the victim’s ex-girlfriend, and Nelson came to the victim’s home uninvited.

Child endangering

WARREN

Charissa Frantz, 22, of Woodbine Avenue Southeast and state Route 7 in Kinsman, was charged with child endangering Tuesday night after she was accused of taking pills in a possible suicide attempt and also giving some to her son, 2.

Police said they were called to a Woodbine address for the ingestion and observed the woman appeared extremely intoxicated and violent as ambulance personnel tried to load her into an ambulance.

Officers found an empty bottle of Percocet, a 30-pack of Escitalopram that had been filled Sept. 19 that was empty and pieces of foil from the pills nearby.

The woman and boy were taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital, and the child was later put in the custody of his father.

Street closings

KINSMAN

State Street, between Main Street and Church Street, will be closed from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday to install a sanitary sewer line, the Trumbull County Engineer announced. The recommended detour route is north on Main and west on Church.

Also, Burnett East Road, between state Route 5 and Farmdale North Road, will be closed today and Friday for soil boring. The recommended detour route is south on state Route 5 and northwest on Mayburn Corners Barclay Road.

Domestic violence

YOUNGSTOWN

A Lansdowne Boulevard couple were each arraigned Wednesday in municipal court on a charge of domestic violence for a fight at their home Tuesday evening.

Judge Elizabeth Kobly set bond at 10 percent of $5,000 for Brian Benson, 55, and his wife, Tiffany Benson, 45.

Reports said police were called to their home at about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, and both were bleeding heavily and both had windows broken out on their vehicles. Reports said Tiffany Benson said the fight started after she came home and found another woman in the home, and they both battered each other with various appliances.

Also arraigned on a charge of domestic violence was Robert Jefferson, 43, of East Avondale Avenue, who is accused of punching the mother of his child in the eye Tuesday. His bond also was set at 10 percent of $5,000.

Road closing

HUBBARD

Mount Everett Road, between Seifert Lewis and Bell Wick roads, will be closed from Monday to Oct. 28 for culvert replacement, the Trumbull County Engineer announced. The recommended detour route is south on Bell Wick Road, west on state Route 304 and north on Seifert Lewis Road.

The Mahoning County commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. today in the commissioners’ hearing room, Mahoning County Courthouse, 120 Market St., Youngstown.

Man reports gunfire

WARREN

A man, 62, of Ferndale Avenue Southwest, reported gunfire hit his house at about 8:10 p.m. Tuesday.

A shot passed through a window and interior wall, and a shell casing was found in the street outside.

Stabbed by companion

WARREN

A man, 39, of Brier Street Southeast, suffered small puncture wounds when a female stabbed him in the back with an unknown object while the two of them walked at Homewood Avenue and Clarence Street Southeast early Wednesday.

The man said they were walking along when “all of a sudden” she stabbed him in the middle of the back and ran off at 3 a.m.

The man was treated at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
