Parks case reassigned

BOARDMAN

The man arrested last week by Mill Creek MetroParks police for allegedly drawing anti-Semitic graffiti at various park locations appeared in Mahoning County Area Court on Tuesday.

Scott Spencer, 25, of Hood Drive in Canfield, is charged with felony-five ethnic intimidation and misdemeanor criminal mischief. He pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge. No plea was accepted for the felony offense, according to court records. Spencer remains free on bond. Scheduling of another court appearance is pending, as the case has been reassigned to Mahoning County Area Court in Canfield after Judge Joseph M. Houser recused himself.

The charges stem from reported incidents in which anti-Semitic messages were found at multiple locations in the park over a several-day span.

Dog bites owner

WARREN

A man, 54, of Tod Avenue Southwest suffered lacerations to his arm and leg from a pit bull dog belonging to him and his wife Monday night.

The man said the dog attacked him as he went to kiss his wife goodnight. The dog lunged at him and bit down on his right elbow, the man said.

The dog would not let go until he choked the dog, the man said. The dog then bit his right thigh and only stopped when his wife was able to get the dog off.

The man received several stitches for large puncture wounds at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

The couple was advised to contact the Warren dog warden and quarantine the dog for 10 days.
