Two men entered guilty pleas Monday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court and were sentenced in separate drug cases.

Pleading guilty to a charge of illegal assembly of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs was Daniel Brown-Bowman, 29, of Smith Township. He was sentenced to four years in prison by Judge Shirley J. Christian,

Brown-Bowman was accused of having the materials on hand to make methamphetamine. Assistant Proseciutor Michael Yacovone said the materials were found in his home after investigators from Alliance police served a search warrant as part of a drug trafficking investigation there.

Brown-Bowman faces trafficking charges in Stark County, where he is accused of selling methamphetamine, but because the materials were found in Mahoning County it was decided to charge him with those offenses here, Yacovone said.

Yacovone said Brown-Bowman faces similar charges in Portage County as well.

Also sentenced Monday before Judge Maureen Sweeney was Brandon Perry, 25, of Dearborn Street, who pleaded guilty in one case from 2015 to five counts of trafficking in heroin, trafficking in cocaine and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys recommended a sentence of 15 months in prison with no early release, and Judge Sweeney upheld that recommendation.

Perry also pleaded guilty to a bill of information to drug charges in a 2016 case.

As part of his plea agreement in the 2015 case, Perry was ordered to forfeit more than $48,000 as well as a Mercedes Benz, an SUV, three handguns and ammunition.

In the 2016 case, he was ordered to forfeit more than $2,000.
