A man, 33, of Tod Avenue Northwest, was treated at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for nonserious wounds after he says he was run over in his driveway Sunday night.

The victim said the suspect is dating his ex-girlfriend and arrived at the victim’s house uninvited at 11:30 p.m. and ran him over with a vehicle on purpose during an argument, dragging him down the driveway. The suspect then threatened the victim with a gun, then left the area in a car, he told police.

Teen found with gun

WARREN

Police charged Mar’Tae Porterfield, 17, of Belmont Street Northwest in juvenile court with carrying a concealed weapon and receiving stolen property Friday night after spotting him on North Park Avenue.

An officer said he knew that there was a warrant for Porterfield’s arrest and spotted him as he walked on North Park at 9:57 p.m. He was taken to the Juvenile Justice Center.

The officer saw Porterfield with a hand in his hooded sweatshirt and asked him to show his hands, police said. Porterfield held his hands in the air and told officers he had a weapon and after he got on the ground, a loaded – and stolen — handgun slid down toward the bottom of his shorts.

10 OVI arrests

Members of the Mahoning County OVI Task Force, in collaboration with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, made 10 OVI arrests resulting from two sobriety checkpoints the evening of Sept. 23.

Enforcement activity with the checkpoints and saturation patrol included 17 summonses for driving with a suspended license, driving with no license, drug abuse and drug paraphernalia; nine citations for not wearing a seat belt, speeding, having expired license plates, failure to control and not moving over or slowing down for a public service vehicle; and one felony arrest for drug abuse – heroin.

Arrested after chase

Officers arrested a man who led them on a police chase Saturday evening after he hit an apartment building with his vehicle.

According to the report, Rodney Sanders II, 25, of Boston Avenue, Youngstown, struck an apartment building with his truck on North Wickliffe Circle and drove away. When officers signalled for Sanders to stop on North Meridian Road, Sanders doubled the speed limit. Officers stopped Sanders on the southbound ramp on Interstate 80. Sanders told officers they were going to have to shoot him because he was not going to get out of the vehicle, reports said.

Sanders was cited for speeding and not having headlights and arrested for failure to comply and failure to disclose personal information.

Man conceals knife

YOUNGSTOWN

A man was held in the Mahoning County jail over part of the weekend after police said he concealed a large knife in his clothes at a downtown restaurant.

Reports said an officer working security noticed Nasser Atamini, 20, early Sunday at a 103 W. Federal St. restaurant who smelled of marijuana and came in the night before with a large knife.

Reports said Atamini sat down at the bar, and when he did the officer could see a knife more than a foot long in a sheath on his belt. Atamini was searched and the officer took the knife and also four marijuana cigars in his pockets.

Atamini was taken to the jail on charges of carrying concealed weapons and possession of marijuana.

Incident at home

A man, 29, of Woodland Street Northeast, was stabbed in the thigh and in the back of the head early Saturday in his at home during an argument, according to police reports.

Police spoke to the man at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for the wounds.

The man said a woman, who was not charged, stabbed him in the back of the head with a key and punched him in the face several times. He said he left the home to get treatment but returned to get his cellphone and money, and she stabbed him in the thigh with a kitchen knife.

Hospital personnel said the man had “very small laceration” on his head and a one-inch cut on his thigh.

The victim was advised to follow up with the city prosecutor’s office to file charges.

Facing assault charge

AUSTINTOWN

Officers arrested a woman in an assault of a man while police helped her ex-boyfriend and his friend retrieve his belongings from her home.

According to the report, Patricia Esau, 60, of Birchwood Drive, refused to give her ex-boyfriend his car and possessions without receiving $10,000 in exchange. Officers escorted the ex-boyfriend and his friend to the Birchwood Drive home Friday night when Esau struck the friend in the face with an open hand.

Esau was charged with assault and transported to Mahoning County jail.

Pa. woman cited

BOARDMAN

Officers cited a Pennsylvania woman after she drove her car into a utility pole Sunday night.

According to the report, Dawn Beeghley, 46, of State Line Road, Bessemer, Pa., lost control while traveling eastbound on Shields Road at Glenwood Avenue.

Beeghley and her passenger suffered minor, non life-threatening injuries and refused medical attention. Beeghley was cited for failure to control her vehicle. Officials said Ohio Edison crews were able to replace the pole and repair the power line around 2 a.m.

Civil War program

YOUNGSTOWN

The story of nearly 200,000 black soldiers who fought for the Union during the Civil War will be presented at 1:45 p.m. Monday at the East Side Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 430 Early Road.

The program will be given by Anthony Gibbs, whose presentation is sponsored by the Ohio Humanities Council.

‘Pink Out’ planned

A “Pink Out” fashion and craft market from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 22 at Christ, the Good Shepherd Parish, 633 Porter Avenue, will honor breast cancer survivor Andrea Repasky of Campbell. Admission is free.
