Pops Series opens with Beatles tribute

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown Symphony Orchestra with conductor Randall Craig Fleischer opens the Pops Series Saturday with “The Classical Mystery Tour: A Tribute to The Beatles” at Edward W. Powers Auditorium.

It was 50 years ago that The Beatles made their final U.S. tour. Portraying the quartet will be Tyson Kelly, Tony Kishman, Tom Teeley and Chris Camilleri.

Monder presents jazz clinic at YSU

Dana School of Music presents guest artist Ben Monder in a jazz clinic at noon Friday in Bliss Hall Room 2222. The class is free and open to the public.

Monder was a guitarist on David Bowie’s 25th studio album, “Blackstar.” A musician in the New York area for 30 years, Monder has performed with a wide variety of artists. He has conducted clinics and workshops around the world, and served on the faculty of the New England Conservatory from 2002-2005.

Monder will perform with YSU faculty David Morgan, bass and Glenn Schaft, percussion. In addition, two student groups will perform.
