6th Ward YouthFest is Saturday

The 6th Ward Citizens Coalition is hosting a free YouthFest from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 3919 Southern Blvd.

The goal is to provide family fun and educational opportunities for students and parents on the South Side.

The event will feature free food, games, and school-supply giveaways. There will be a video-game truck, a bounce house, slide, basketball and other games.

The Youngstown Police and Fire departments will be there with a police car and firetruck for children to explore. Face painting, beading and other art activities also will be available.

The event is part of the 6WCC’s Community Mobilization Series, designed to encourage community engagement in neighborhoods of the ward.

The resources and participants also include the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, Crawling to Destiny, Chess for Life and ATA Black Belt Academy. This event is sponsored in part by a Wean Foundation Neighborhood Success and Leadership Grant.
