Meeting at Butler

YOUNGSTOWN

The Board of Trustees and the Director of The Butler Institute of American Art invite young professionals to the first meeting of the Butler Young Collectors Group on Oct. 13 at the Butler, 524 Wick Ave.

The event, which takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. will feature a cocktail reception and then discussion from Butler Director Louis Zona and special guest Jonathan Greenberg, vice president of Sotheby’s Auction, on art collecting for enjoyment and investment, art history and appreciation and the Butler’s role in our community, as well as the role of the arts in our lives.

Fire-safety event

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a fire-safety event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 5 at The Embassy, 5030 Youngstown-Poland Road.

Mallory Madden, Bulwark Certified Trainer and Derek Sang, technical training manager for Bulwark Protective Apparel, will discuss how to select, wear, care for and maintain the proper flame-resistant clothing for your industry.

Energy forum

HERMITAGE, PA.

The Penn-Northwest Development Corp. will host a “Think About Energy” forum Friday.

The forum will take place at the Avalon Golf and Country Club at 1030 Forker Blvd. from 8:30 to 11 a.m.

The forum is designed to spark conversation about energy development and use.

The forum panel will include representatives from MarkWest Energy Partners, Seneca Resources, Noise Solutions and Penn State Extension.

Manufacturing event

YOUNGSTOWN

America Makes, 236 W. Boardman St., in collaboration with Hudson Fasteners and the Youngstown Manufacturing Community will have an “Opening Doors, Opening Minds” event for National Manufacturing Day on Oct. 7.

The event, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., brings together local manufacturers, leaders, entrepreneurs, teachers and students to tell the story of manufacturing.

Featured will be a presentation of the life-size, 3-D printed bobbleheads of the presidential nominees and a tour of America Makes.
