The St. Vincent de Paul Society dining hall, 208 W. Front St., is temporarily closed because of water damage, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner. A water leak at the facility was discovered early Saturday. Officials said the dining hall could be closed for up to a week. However, sandwiches will be served beginning Monday, but no hot foot will be served until repairs are complete.
Boil alert lifted
GIRARD
A boil alert for residents of a portion of Beechwood Avenue was lifted Saturday afternoon. It was issued Thursday after a water-main break in that neighborhood. Service Director Jerome Lambert said test results received Saturday showed no problems.
Brownlee Woods

The Brownlee Woods Neighborhood Association will host its monthly meeting Thursday at Faith Community Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd. Social time begins at 6 p.m.; the business meeting starts at 6:30. Speakers will be Sean McKinney, building and grounds commissioner; Jennifer Jones, litter control coordinator; and city Engineer Charles Shasho. Councilwoman Basia Adamczak, D-7th, is expected to attend as well as police Officer Phil Skowron. Meetings are open to the public.
Making Kids Count

Making Kids Count is announcing a partnership with the new Panda Express, 935 Windham Court, which will donate 20 percent of its total sales made Friday, the grand opening.
It also is acting as a diaper-collection site during National Diaper Need Awareness Week and is offering special coupons to anyone who brings in a pack of diapers to be donated to Making Kids Count.
Farm Bureau
CANFIELD
Mahoning County Farm Bureau will recognize the past year’s accomplishments and adopt policies for the coming year at its annual meeting Oct. 4. The meeting will begin with a candidate reception at 6:30 p.m., then dinner at 7 at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St. The meeting will focus on finalizing policy suggestions, which will be carried to the Ohio Farm Bureau meeting in December. There are trustee positions to seat and four delegates to elect to represent the county at the 2017 state meeting. Tickets are $20 each and are available by calling the bureau office at 440-437-8700. Reservations are due by Tuesday.
