Canfield officers look for Zachary Irvin on charges of child endangerment

Staff report

CANFIELD

Officers are looking for a Youngstown man charged with child endangering after he did not show up for a Friday afternoon hearing at Mahoning County Area Court.

Police Detective Joshua Wells said when court is back in session Tuesday, a judge will sign a bench warrant for the arrest of Zachary Irvin, 28, of West Warren Avenue.

According to a police report, Irvin left children alone in a motel room at Evergreen Motel, 485 W. Main St., Tuesday night.

Officers located Irvin at a nearby store and arrested him on the child-endangering charge.

“Because it’s a misdemeanor, we typically release people on those [charges],” Wells said.

After Irvin did not show up for his hearing, Wells said he was informed by three sources that Irvin was actively trying to avoid the police and had left Ohio.

Wells said it will be up to the judge to determine how far the warrant will reach for Irvin’s arrest.
