YOUNGSTOWN

Reed’s Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1939 Jacobs Road, will celebrate its 95th anniversary during an observance at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The Rev. Dr. Wesley I. Reid, pastor of Lee Memorial AMEC in Cleveland, will be guest speaker. There will be other presentations.

The Rev. Stephen Chifunda is pastor.

Organ dedication

NORTH JACKSON

Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1110 N. Salem-Warren Road, will conduct a dedication of its pipe organ at 3 p.m. Oct. 2.

Victor Marsillo, master organ builder, built the organ he will play. He has played for 46 years and served as a music director throughout Youngstown and in Connecticut, Kentucky and elsewhere in Ohio. He was organist at Louisville Gardens and calliopist for Kentucky Derby parade and on the Belle of Louisville Steamboat on the Ohio River.

Other instruments also will be dedicated. There will be special songs by the choir and youth vocals.

Marsillo has operated Victor Organ for 34 years and serves more than 300 churches, synagogues, auditoriums, universities and private residences. Victor Organ is in Austintown.

Speaker planned

YOUNGSTOWN

Dr. Christopher Yuan will speak on “The Gospel and Sexual Identity” during a program planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 27 at Ford Family Recital Hall in DeYor Performing Arts Center.

Yuan’s talk is part of the C.S. Lewis Institute’s community lecture series.

He is a teacher, inspirational speaker and co-author of “Out of a Far Country: A Gay Son’s Journey to God, a Broken Mother’s Search for Hope” and author of “Giving a Voice to the Voiceless.” The books combine his life experience and theological training.

Queen for Day

CANFIELD

Lifecare Ministry Center, Lucille Orr Ministries, 5357 S. Raccoon Road, will present Queen for Day program from 10:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Oct. 4.

Guest speaker will be Dr. Tammy Smith of Columbus, author of “Soul Healing” and other books. The event is for women only. There will be lunch, prizes and a prayer ministry.

Revival planned

YOUNGSTOWN

A citywide and regional revival is scheduled from Oct. 3-17 featuring local pastors and ministers from Youngstown and surrounding area. Services are planned at 6:30 p.m. at Sword of the Lord Global Ministries, 474 Early Road.

The theme will be “Our Time of Visitation” referring to God blessing the Youngstown area and taken from the Bible text of Luke 19:41-44. The senior pastor at Sword of the Lord is John Terry Allen.

Gospel Mass set

NEW WILMINGTON, PA.

Westminster College’s Combined Choirs will present Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass at 7 p.m. Oct. 2 in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The service is open to all.

Student soloists and Westminster faculty artists Jeff Wachter, P. J. Gatch III and Mark Antonich will be featured. The choirs are under the direction of Dr. Sam Barbara, Westminster assistant professor of music and director of choral activities.
