Boardman officials to vote on property swap Monday

Staff report

BOARDMAN

Township and school officials will vote Monday on a proposed property exchange that would allow both entities to build new facilities.

The exchange, plans for which were publicly announced in April, will allow the township to build a new main fire station at the corner of Market Street and Stadium Drive, and for the school district to build a new bus garage off Tod Avenue.

The exchange will give the township a 2-acre parcel adjacent to Boardman Center Intermediate School, and the school district will get a 4-acre parcel that has been used for a township cold-storage facility.

The new fire station will replace the main station on U.S. Route 224, and the bus garage will replace the school district’s McClurg Road garage.

Both the township board of trustees and the school board have regularly scheduled meetings Monday. The final purchase agreement for the property swap is on both agendas.

The township trustees meet at the township government center at 6 p.m., and the school board meets at Stadium Drive Elementary at 7 p.m.
